| ![]() Good luck Wallee. I hope your mommy finds a job soon. When daddy lost his job in Nebraska almost 3 years ago, he tried and tried to find another job there but was having no luck. Trying to find a new job when you're over 50 is not fun! He finally got a job offer in Dallas, TX and we moved. It was very hard. I hope things work out for you and your family! I'll pray for you.

| ![]() I'm so sorry of your job loss and I can understand your frustration. There have been rumblings in my company about layoffs etc. and my initial thought was I'm going to start my own business. The looming idea of having someone having the fire me just because has started to annoy me. Having my own business depends on my own success or failure. So I say this to say, maybe this is your time to focus on you and find something that you yourself control. Aren't we the holders of our own destiny? Big hugs to you and I wish you all the best. I understand your fears but something better may open up for you.

Zachary's Mom Donating Member | ![]() I am so very sorry. My husband has been out of work for almost 3 years. He is legally blind since birth and is on disability, thank goodness. I had to retire almost a year before my 65th BD but am finally on disability. We went through all our savings so I am now w/o health insurance till the first of the year. It is very very difficult. You can get COBRA but it is extremely expensive. There are going to be a LOT more layoffs because of Obama winning the election and things are going to get worse before they get better. Don't get me going on this one or I will be banned from YT ![]() I will be praying for you and your family. George and I have found that God is always there just on time for us but still, it is a hard thing to deal with from day to day. God bless you, Louise PM me if you ever want to just talk. |

| ![]() What type work did you do there? Is it something you can do part-time for a temp agency until you find something else?

Donating YT 30K Club Member | ![]() I am so sorry. I was let go 7 years ago after 33 years with my company with no warning. I was 53 too. It is very traumatic. They tend to get rid of the loyal long term employees to cut expenses. Sad world. I hope you can find a better employer that will value your experience and dedication.

| ![]() I feel horrible for you....loyality to a job is unappreciated in this day and time. And it is going to get so much worse now. With the implementation of the new health care mandate, companies have already started laying people off because of the cost of insurance to the company. Companies are laying off and even closing their doors. Employees that have been with companies for a long period of time, are not looked at as "a loyal, productive employee", but rather an "employee that is at the top of a pay scale"....we can lay off 12 top of the pay scale employees, or we can lay off 30 middle and lower pay grade employees......" They will choose what is most beneficial to the company. So so sad...... Everyone I know that has been laid off, say they are better off for it....they find new ways to make ends meet and some are forced into doing things they had just kinda been thinking they might enjoy getting started in, but were fearful to take that step. I am praying this will open up a whole new world to you, one you sincerely enjoy doing and can be such a successful transition for you! |

| ![]() I am so sorry to hear about your upsetting news. I am in my 50s as well and I understand how you feel. One positive thing is people are working longer and there more seasoned workers in the workplace today. Don't feel you are too old to re-invent yourself because you are not. Until you decide what your next move will be , stay active and be creative. Sometimes voluntering can end up being a paying job. Don't let depression slip into your mind especially with the holidays coming up. Don't feel guilty if you can't afford to purchase gifts. Remember you will have to live beyond December 25th. Just think this closed door maybe the opening of something bigger and better coming your way. |
