Willow and Allie whom I adopted thru a Rescue Group, have the Avid Chips and they don't show up on the site that Nancy posted.My Luci whom I had Chipped when I took her in as re-home has a Home Again, now on that site it say's it registered with Home Again and teh last update was 11-5-2012 and to call the number.

It looks like you are posting an extra "http" that you don't need.

Anyway, my chip is with Home Again not Avid, it did list both the Home Again phone number and the AKC phone number. I listed my chip with the AKC, it doesn't list your phone number just the companies.

I'm pretty sure Jackson's chip is AKC brand. I'll go check in a bit, I don't have the number on me!

Well the AVID site sucks. there's nothing there! There are pages that say "under construction" for ages! Avis is Avid/Petrac but can't find anything else as far as lookup sites.

I think the ipad automatically puts in a http, so that's how that happened then. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I micro chip all my babies before they leave. I was told by Avid all that was necessary was to return the information with the fee and that was it. I have been doing that for over two years! Tonight, I hear from one of my parents she checked her baby's chip (she even received a letter months ago saying they had the information and all was well), and it came up as unregistered!!!! I have to find out WTF is up with this....I have all these babies running around, with owners thinking they are safe and now this!!!!! I was told all was taken care of with the fee and the return of the information....if I need to be telling my owners they have to do something else on line, I need to know this and I dont understand why Avid did not tell me! Any other breeders out there microchipping using Avid chips and paying for the service...do you do anything else to get these babies registered?

Just call Avid. I believe that it will show who put the chip in (you), but you are not listed as the owner. Someone needs to register it.

We microchip all of our pups, but they are done by our individual vets. We then register the chip in our name....then, when a pup is adopted, we add the adopter as a secondary owner. That way, if the pup is ever found by someone, the chip company will notify us and the adopter.

Those sites to look up numbers are only going to tell you what company holds the registration.
They do not give you the information online....if you are inquiring about your own pup, you can call and they will have you identify yourself prior to giving you information. This is for the protection of the animals and also the owners.
Once a person finds an animal that is chipped and they call the company, the company notifies the owner.

I really think Avid is lacking in their services compared to others, mostly Home Again. Uni was from a broker (before I really knew). She was scatterbrained to say the least and told me Uni's chip was Home Again. I registered her on HA (I had two numbers on Uni) and they took my money just fine. I really liked their user interface and that you can update info easily and upload pics. Then I ask my vet to scan her chip and what comes up. I thought the scanner would pop up the owners number right away. He said no, just the chip number and they have to figure out which company it's from. He said her number format ###*###*### is Avid, not HA. So I contact Avid and there's nothing on their site! I call them up and I fax in her form and send money. They say everything is up to date, but I go and check on this Chip Registry lookup site and nothing. Perhaps that site doesn't work with Avid at all? I"ll need to call Avid on Monday.

Anyway, if Avid told you that was all you had to do, I'd be livid as well having all those dogs not being registered with them! With our rescue, we also use Avid, and I was told whoever gets the paperwork on the chip files it and it's done. That even though I recieve the foster with the Avid paperwork I don't have to do anything. I wonder if this is correct or not.

Yeah, like I said the Avid site is pretty much non existent. They need to come to the 20th century, at least meet the rest of us half way!

That is exactly what they told me!!! I have my people fill out the paperwork, I am listed as implanter as well as second contact, and I personally pay the fee and mail in the paperwork....my buyers then receive a letter from Pet-track telling them they have received the paperwork, the fee and all is well. But then when my one buyer went to double check, she is told on the site that the number is not registered!!!! yOU ARE RIGHT....i AM LIVID!!! AND I HAVE TO WAIT TIL tUESDAY TO GET AHOLD OF SOMEBODY....MONDAY IS A HOLIDAY....DOUBT THEY ARE OPEN!!!!

My vet had to return all Tibbe's info, I then got a letter saying I was welcome, officially noting his chip#, birthdate, breed, etc., and directing me to go online and register him at Home Again website and then keep checking yearly to be sure it's all still correct. And it was until I checked last week when I worried the superstorm might have caused them problems and dataloss there in New Jersey. Well, something had caused a lot of dataloss on my account and though my contact name, address, one phone number and email were there, NOTHING else was anymore. No backup or secondary contact info, health info, license #, color/weight info, special info about body anomalies, identifying marks, etc., birthdate, picture - nothing. So I had to update all of that and oh, by the way, when I tried to first sign in, it didn't recognize the chip # as matching my last name or email! I called them, they couldn't explain why I got that message online, gave me a temp password and I signed in and updated everything again, including the password.

Just as advised above, call them and find out what to do to fix it all.
