ZoE (who will be two in December) has been an occasional morning vomiter since I first got her. It wasn't every morning, but enough that it concerned me. Her vet wasn't too concerned, as she was otherwise healthy & all her tests came back within normal limits. He said if it continued to be a problem, I could give her pepcid before bed...but I was hesitant to start her on daily medicine for an occasional problem.

I started splitting her daily food ration into thirds, and the last third she ate at around 11pm before bed. It seemed to help initially, but then it didn't. I got sick of having to wash my bedding...and her puking events increased. Still, in the morning, in the wee hours, before we got up....not during the day.

Again, another trip to the vet. Before he put on her daily meds, he suggested I start wetting her dry kibble. He said that dry kibble increases bile production in their stomach, to break it down & that this increased bile when sitting in the stomach for periods of time can induce vomiting. It seemed ridiculous. That a simple thing like wetting her food would stop the vomiting? But, I tried it & it worked! Since I started wetting her food, she hasn't had any vomiting episodes (knock on wood...) For us, this simple solution solved the problem. I'm a tea drinker, so I'm always boiling the kettle for hot water throughout the day. I pour hot water on her kibble and let it sit for 10 minutes and stir it around a bit, so her kibble is in a gravy-like solution. I feed her this 3 times a day (roughly 7am, 4pm & 11pm).

We do put a tiny bit of water in his bowl now to make the chicken stick to the kibble but maybe we are not putting enough to actually "wet" the kibble. We are for sure not soaking it. It is always something we can try!!! I'm willing to try anything at this point. My carpet and rugs are going to be ruined if this continues. That bile is the hardest thing to get out of carpet. I will say...the nights I have fed him late...he does not throw up the yellow in the morning..instead it is clear. So it seems to me that it is even happening when his stomach isn't empty. What kind of food do you give your baby? I'm thinking about switching to see if that helps at all. I ordered California Naturals. I have heard some good things and some bad. Don't know what to think anymore about these dog foods!!

No she did not do a urinalysis. What would that show exactly? We have never had to have one done! Maybe I will ask about that tomorrow.

I thought I responded and now it isn't showing. Sorry I'm new to this!!! We do put a little bit of water on his food now to get the chicken to stick to his kibble. We do not put enough to actually wet the kibble though. Maybe I will try soaking and see what happens. What kind of food does your baby eat?

I feed Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier food.

Well we have been up since 3am. Not due to vomiting...yet
Yet...but his stomach is gurgling so bad he can't sleep... It's so loud it woke me up. Poor little guy

I got up with him at 3... Gave him a little but of chicken...thinking the noises might be due to him being empty. He gobbled the chicken right up. I then took him on a really long walk. He acted completly normal and excited to walk. We just got back to the house and his stomach is making same nosies as we lay on couch. I have a feeling the puke with be coming shortly

That makes me wonder if it is a food issue. My Rosie has IBS. Anytime I feed her something that don't agree with her then her tummy makes noises. Usually she will throw up or have diarrhea. You might talk to your vet about what you are feeding and if it is possible that could be causing a problem.

Yoghurt wouldn't hurt the probiotic in it would likely help create good flora in his obviously upset tummy, try him on just plain cooked chicken for a while and the broth from the cooked chicken (no seasoning).
Cooked chicken is pure protein.
Is he drinking water then throwing it up right away, that is a sign of pancreatitis. I would recommend in that case adding a digestive enzyme to his food, human grade, half a capsule per meal. This will help break down the food and give the pancreas a bit of a rest and also a herbal supplement called curcugen. It's for pancreatic health. between that and the digestive enyme, and a probiotic you will help him greatly

I also recommend getting him off science diet, it's awful food full of chemicals, if he has issues with digestion and the organs that aid digestion are having a hard time processing his food, it won't help.

Try him on the most natural diet you can, as I said tried cooked chicken or turkey

Ziva is a morning puker if she has had something the day before that doesn't work for her. I give the dogs green beans as a snack and if she has one too many- pukes the next am! My groomer says "too many greens!" Probiotics have really helped her and also cutting back her food amount, she was gaining weight ...

Yes do remember that dogs systems are not built to digest vegetables and if you chose to feed them and mix with their food, cook and purée it.

He was test for pancreatitis today and it came back negative. I also took in a stool sample and it was normal. Tomorrow we are going to a vet that is suppose to be one of the best in the US. I have to get to the bottom of this. I plan to take him off of science diet ASAP. I ordered California naturals offline but it won't arrive until tomorrow. Going to see what the vet has to say about food too. All of these dog foods scare me to be honest. I feel like we never know what is best for our babies!!!
