Yet...but his stomach is gurgling so bad he can't sleep... It's so loud it woke me up. Poor little guy I got up with him at 3... Gave him a little but of chicken...thinking the noises might be due to him being empty. He gobbled the chicken right up. I then took him on a really long walk. He acted completly normal and excited to walk. We just got back to the house and his stomach is making same nosies as we lay on couch. I have a feeling the puke with be coming shortly
Guinness had the same issue with his stomach so loud it scared me after taking him to the vet and all testing came back normal I was told it was due to me feeding him low qualify food that his stomach did NOT like, he was eating Royal Canin Yorkshire puppy then after switching to better food we do not have the tummy noise and daily puking.

My Roxi would also throw up bile in the mornings, so I finally figured out it was because she had an empty stomach. When she wakes up, I give her 2 tsp of her l/d canned food and she hasn't thrown up in the morning since. She only gets canned food in the mornings...I leave dry food out at all times for her because she is only 3 lbs.

I agree with this, I think setting some food out at night would help prevent overhunger. Also, I'd would give the pepcid, if the vet thinks it's okay.

So we went to a vet about 2 hours away because we heard such great things about it. They wanted to keep him all day to run numerous test. They tested him for addisions disease and that was negative. They tested his bile aids (for possible liver shunt) those were good before eating and a little elevated after eating. She said that they consider it a liver shunt if it is over 100 and his was 90. She wants to check bile acids again in 2 months. They did full blood panel. Everything was in normal range. Even his total protein. YAY! They also did an ultrasound of his abdomen and she called me and asked if she had my permission to do a needle biopsy because she found enlarged lymph nodes in his abdomen. SCARY. I of corse said yes and she had to explain that it could just be inflammation, infection, or lymphoma. My dad is in remission after being diagnosed with lymphoma either this year...So of course I was upset to say they least that now my dog could have it Thankfully the cells came back "reactive"...which she said means that they are just reacting to inflammation, NO cancer cells. That was my far the longest wait of my life for those results. She suspected that any GI problems would cause inflammation of lymph nodes in that area. He use to be on Science Diet (bad parent I now) I should have done my research long ago and didn't. I trusted the breeder we got him from. That is what she fed him. The vet switched us to Royal Canin Rabbit. She said the reason for her choosing this food is because it only has 1 protein (being the rabbit). She knows he has had chicken, beef, turkey...and clearly hasn't responded well to them...so she wanted to introduce something "foreign" to his system. She sent us home with the dry and wet food. He has not thrown up since Sunday (when he was still on science diet) and has not thrown up since being on royal canin. That is with me giving him pepcid before bed every night. I don't know what would happen if I didn't. He is still doing the repetitive swallowing in bed at night..all through the night. Last night was a loooong one. But when we get up he doesn't throw up. I'm at least thankful for that, but wish he wouldn't have to do the swallowing. That tells me his belly is still upset but the pepcid is coating it. I am hoping that once I make the complete transition to Royal Canin Rabbit that the swallowing stops. I am still doing ratios with old food. Here is my question for everyone....I feel like since we started giving him some wet food that he isn't wanting to drink hardly any water. I don't know what to do! I swear its always something. Now he loves eating...but won't drink. We have to run with him or chase him around to get him to go to his water bowl. I don't get it!!! Could him having wet food for the first time ever make him not as thirsty because of all of the moisture in the wet? Also, do you notice your babies not drinking as much when its cold out? Thanks again for all your help!!!

I have my two on raw rabbit and switch between that and lamb. I also give them whole chicken thighs and a lovely lamb chop every so often. It might be a possibility for you to switch to raw.

Aw well thank you Do you strictly do raw or do you ever do kibble or canned? Do you buy a certain brand of raw or do you do it yourself?

I switch between two brands of raw. I chose Tollden Farms and Bold which are made locally here in Ontario. They are a completely balanced diet with the correct ratio of organs bones and meat.
I also get the chicken thighs and lamb chops I get at the grocery shop. In the states I have hears of a brand called natural instinct. dr Karen Becker DVM has some great information. On raw diets

I give them a probiotic daily and also give them raw green tripe. I recommend you google that. It's amazing for their coat teeth and digestion but it stinks like you can't imagine

Ok! I will for sure. What do you think about him not wanting to drink? In the summer months it was constant. Now I literally have to hold him over sink and he pushes away.

I wouldn't force him to drink, just make sure he has clean water. Unless your dog is deathly ill, he know how much water to drink. Dogs don't perspire like humans, they lose water when they pant. If your weather is cooler or the air has more humidity, he needs less water. You can pour a cup of water into a dish and at the end day measure what's left. I would tell my vet the results. I'm wondering if he was drinking more before because his tumny was upset?

Wow that's a lot of tests! You're a wonderful mommy for taking such good care of him...I hope he does well on the new food & no more throw up!

The canned food has a lot of moisture, so they do drink less water than if they were on kibble only. He'll drink if he gets thirsty. If it's really cold out, you can give him plain chicken broth that you cooked his chicken with.

How about cooking some plain chicken in water and putting the chicken water in his bowl. My two never turn that down and in the summer I give them it as ice cube treats as well as cooked chicken treats

I didn't realize the new food was canned, yes, it has much more water and many dogs don't even need additional water.

The vet told me I am not allowed to give any other source of protein other than rabbit. She said he can not have any people food, no other meats, no veggies, and really nothing other than the dry or canned rabbit. Poor guy:/ it just worries me I guess because he has always taken a big drink when we get home from work and let him out and now he doesn't. He also would always drink after eating. Now he doesn't. He can't be getting enough water. He doesn't eat much of the canned. Just a little bit on his dry food and when he takes his medicine. I can't imagine that amount of canned making such a difference. But maybe since he's never had it?! It does say it has a max of 77% moisture.
