When I took Isabella to the internal medicine hospital they scanned her and came back and told me she had a chip. I was confused because the rescue had told me she did not have a chip as they had scanned her a few days previously. We found out a few minutes later that it was the chip the rescue had put in her. I was happy to see that they did do a routine scan because she was a stray. I asked them if this was their standard practice and the vet told me if they get a patient that is a know stray or if it seems like the owners are having a hard time giving them a good medical history they scan.

With mine I have them scaned on the yearly appointment just to make sure it still reads.

That is a great idea. If they don't scan. Ask them to make sure it still works. And then maybe the vet will start to get into that practice

I own a scaner, I use it to make sure my pack's chips are good and to make sure I send the right puppy home.
I love microchips..

Thanks Linda! I thought I read one of your previous posts that said there was no annual fee for Home Again but was reading what was on their site after I had the kidz chipped. I'm glad I finally got them chipped although they acted groggy and not themselves all day.
