I sure wish every vet would scan every dog that comes in and verify ownership, do f/u but many of them say that is not their function as a medical practice.
When I took Isabella to the internal medicine hospital they scanned her and came back and told me she had a chip. I was confused because the rescue had told me she did not have a chip as they had scanned her a few days previously. We found out a few minutes later that it was the chip the rescue had put in her. I was happy to see that they did do a routine scan because she was a stray. I asked them if this was their standard practice and the vet told me if they get a patient that is a know stray or if it seems like the owners are having a hard time giving them a good medical history they scan.
