Why you should microchip your pets.... The Baxter and Cooper story should be enough to convince everyone to microchip their pets! They may have been able to identify them anyway, but with those chips it was instant and indisputable proof of ownership!! I remember when this happened. What an amazing outcome, thank you ladyjane for sharing the news report. I've been anxious to find out the circumstances regarding them being found. This story brought tears to my eyes! What a happy ending! |
I hope one day soon to see that there is a prosecution in this case. What that poor woman, her husband and those pups went through is so disgusting. Oh, and her friends as well who stood by her and helped. I am so sure they were also stressed from it all. It was such a sad, sad story that thankfully has a happy tending. Holding someone responsible and hopefully making an example of them might help to prevent others from committing such a crime. |

I am sure it will all come out in time....they may still be investigating it.... |

I could not agree more on the title of this thread and this post. Please get your pets microchipped (yes pets, even cats), keep your profile updated, have your Vet check the chip during their yearly vet visit and most of all never give up on the goodness of people and God. |

Getting our babies microchipped is only step one....I am not sure how it could be done, but there has to be some way that scanning all dogs brought into VET OFFICES, GROOMERS, as well as shelters and rescues and pounds, is routine and expected, especially when the pet is a "new client" in any of these facilities. As owners, we must microchip our pups and keep the information updated....but there must be a way to reconnect Step A to Step B (the pet!). That missing link to the two steps is the scanning of the pet for a chip....all facilities that receive a pup, must be compelled to scan that baby. We have to figure out how to MAKE that happen! |
Mine is chiped and wears a GPS collar. |
I have been following this story since a little after her pups were stolen. I've watched her posts on Facebook and have cried for her... I am SO happy to hear that her babies are back home. I cannot wait to hear the details. |
Making it Protocol Maybe every groomer, Vet, rescue, pound, shelter or place selling dogs should have this information right on the data sheet Dog Scanned ?______ #______________. We use our SS# and Driver Lic. to prove we are who we say we are. Micro Chips should be the same for dogs. I would like to see a requirement that every adult animal sold must be micro chipped. And like cars you only have 14 days to change the (title) ownership. They are finding a way to do this with stolen cell phone, my gosh how much more important is our beloved pet. |
I will always have mine chipped. |

I hope where she lives have better laws for this then my state does. :( |
3 dogs & 2 cats (even though strictly indoors) all licensed and microchipped... |
A great case for microchips, and for checking them. |
