| Molly was attacked by a bulldog Last night about 5 I took Molly and Lily for a walk along the river in front of our holiday home. They were both on extendable leads. I turned to go back and Lily pulled back she stood on up on her back legs like meercat this is what she does when she can't reach something.. Suddenly she bolted towards and past me I turned to see where she had gone and so did Molly. All of a sudden this big white bull dog came charging out under next doors deck and grabbed Molly she rolled on top of her Molly was yelping like mad. The man who owns her ran over and threw himself on top of the dog and rolled her over letting me grab Molly. The dog still had a hold of her leg. Poor wee Molly was howling , when she calmed down I tried to put her down but she was shaking and couldnt put her right back leg down. the woman can over and apologised. She said her dog had done this before but doesn't bite. I checked Molly's leg she had bite marks on her thigh and groin and her fur was wet. I was shaking and wanted to get here home. She was very shaky and quiet I phoned the local vet who said if she wasn't bleeding it wasn't an emergency and to bring her in at 9 in the morning, she gave me an emergency number in case she got worse. After a few hoursnI fed her and she ate but still couldn't put her leg down. She kept falling asleep. She is much better today she is using her 4 legs and I put mushers cream on the bite marks a few times they have now almost gone. The skin was not punctured. She is still a bit quiet which is unlike her and she jumps a the slightest noise. I hope this doesn't change her outgoing personality and she will forget in time. lily who saw all this has been guarding Molly she barks and jumps up at every noise imagined or otherwise . She stays close to Molly all the time and keeps looking at her and smelling her. They're a bit more relaxed tonight so keeping my fingers. Crossed.. I was a wreck last night and couldn't stop crying, I kept replaying it over in my head to wonder if there was anything I could have. Done. The owners have assured me the dog will never be out without a lead again, they also offered to pay for anything Molly needed at the vet, in the end I didn't take her to the vet she has no physical injuries and was eating drinking peeing and pooping.

| I am very sorry she was attacked but I do not think it was a good choice not to go to the vet.

| They said the dog doesn't bite? I think there's proof on Molly that he does! I think you should still go to the vet and have the neighbors pay for the checkup. Also I would call the dog warden or animal control and report that their dog was out loose. They even admitted it happened before. Nothing serious happened to Molly but what if there's a next time? what if they dog hurts or kills another dog? Then you would have said you wish you would have reported it.

| Oh, thank heavens Molly is doing ok today. I can't even imagine how terrified you all were....poor little baby. It would have to be tramatic for Molly and you other one. Sending prayers all will be forgotten in a few days and she will be back to her old self. I'm so sorry this happened to the 3 of you

| I think you should take her to get checked out. My little Casper got jumped by another dog and while there was no blood - there was severe bruising under the skin. He ended up getting some antibiotics as well as some other things. He was terrified but I will say he was never great with strange dogs to begin with. He still loved his walks.

| Please get Molly checked out by a vet & bill the bull dog owner...he should pay & be responsible for his dog. There's a bull dog in our complex & he lunges for Mimi & Momo whenever he sees them. The owner thinks it's funny & leaves the leash LONG, I give him (owner) the mad dog eye & walk the other way.

| Nobody with a dog big enough to hurt another dog should use those extended leads. Imagine having a bulldog or big, powerful dog on a lead like that! So sor Molly was bitten - I hope she's okay.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I too would urge you to go see the vet. 24hrs of non weight bearing on one leg does mean something. There are a few breeds I am pretty cautious of; and the Bulldog is almost number one on my list. I have had three bulldogs, act aggressive to my big boy, and one was an all out attack!. Thankfully neither myself, nor the bulldog owner used flexileads! I would like to urge all dog owners not to WALK their dog on a flexilead. The handle is inappropriate for restraint, and most folks fumble around trying to figure out if the lead is "out" in the locked position or not. Flexileads, do have a use, and that is in a secure environment when you are training come/recall, and want to let your dog go out 10/15/20 feet ahead of you.

| I read it to understand that Molly was on the retractable and the bulldog was on no leash.

| Both dogs were on extendable leads, I think.

| No, I reread it and you are right at least I think. Sounds like the bulldog wasn't on a lead or it if was, it was long enough that a distracted owner didn't see it's dog going for another and stop the attack.

| And I've seen the handlehold just slip out of hands. I like to see people walking big, powerful dogs with the hand, wrist slipped through the leash loop and wrapped around the wrist, then regripped. If I don't see that grip on a leash and a big dog on the other end, I usually go the other way. Even big guys get a regular leash ripped out of their hands when just holding it and they are not paying attention if their dog decides to take off.

| What a traumatic thing to have happen to her and her sister. I'm so sorry to hear this. What you may want to do is to give her a bath to get the scent of the bulldog off her. It could be why she's still afraid and why her sister keeps smelling her. The scent of the bulldog is still on her. I hope she will be ok.
