Molly was attacked by a bulldog

At first I was dreading to read this post. I am so very glad that Molly wasn't hurt worse than what she was and that Lily and you are alright. I pray that Molly continues to improve and that this experience doesn't have any negative lasting impressions on your two fur babies.

Just to clarify the bulldog was not on a lead and didnt even have a collar to grab.
Molly was on an extendable. I use this because my girls never get off lead to run and on a wide grassy area this gives them a but of freedom. In future I will keep them on a short lead until I reach the field. These things we learn by our mistakes.

Thanks for the tip to wash Molly. Never thought the bulldog smell might still be on her will do that today.

The owners of the bull dog were very upset and genuinely concerned for Molly and me. She has come over twice to check how we are doing. I took Molly to hers yesterday evening because I wanted to see
Molly's reaction to the dogs. I kept Molly in my arms outside but she could see the dog through the patio door. Molly was her usuall wiggy licky self with the lady. She even had a sniff over at the dog (from a distance) I'm not that brave. Carol obviously loves her dogs and I feel she'd deserves the chance to correct the behaviour she assures me the dog will never have the opportunity to do this again and will never be off lead. I believe she will do her best and so will not take this any further. But if I ever see the dog unrestrained I will not hesitate to report it.

I'm so glad Molly was okay I sometimes dread reading these posts I totally agree with how you've handled this I think if the owner of the other dog is genuinely sorry and alters how she does things with her dog from now on and the main thing Molly is ok then a brilliant outcome! Go Molly I must add Ryman is only 9 weeks so not been outside for walks yet thats the one thing I'm dreading ...another dog darting for him they move so blinking quick!

i am happy molly is doing well.
i am glad the owner of the bulldog is cooperating .
hopefully she will learn from this and watch her dog more closely . Although for little molly it was a traumatic event it could have been much worse, thank god it wasn't . I am so happy that she is ok..

OMG Eileen must seen this today , hope little Molly is ok. You must have got the fright of your life!!!! Things just happen so fast, you can't blame yourself you did not know the dog was there.

This is how my little Lottie is a nightmare out a barks at everything she has been run at by dogs 3 times and the first was when she was very young,I manged to get her up but it left her very shaken! Hopefully Molly won't be affected long term by this. She may have some bruising that you can't see due to her hair but I know you will keep your eye on her and sounds as if her wee sister is also looking out for her.

I'm so glad Molly seems to be alright. Bull dogs do have powerful jaws. I would take her to the vet. There are other things besides bones that can break in that kind of attack.

In this country you are supposed to report a dog attack. In my area dogs are "given" one bite and after that the dog can be removed if it attacks again. It seems like a backward policy. Anyway, report the attack to the police. They should keep a record of the attack so if that dog does by some means get loose again and hurts someone something can be done about it because there is a record of it's aggression.

I don't think there is much you could have done to prevent the attack but it is a good idea to keep your dog close to your side in case of some unexpected event. I have to keep Gracie close due to the presence of wild animals at certain times of day. Thankfully I have only been attacked by a domestic dog. I know how frightening the experience is.

Kisses and love to Molly. You might want to give her a bath to get rid of the smell of the other dog.

I am so sorry this happened! Irresponsible dog owners make me so mad! I don't care if you have a chihuahua or a doberman, they should never be off leash unless they're in a secure area (i.e. a fenced yard!).

I really hope little Molly is OK. I agree a visit to the vet is in order. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Take her to the vet!!!! You don't know if there is any internal damage.

We have a lot of neighbors that let their dogs run loose. We have 6 dogs, 2 go out to potty and 4 use pads inside. The 2 are only out on a leash and then we are constantly scouring the area for loose dogs. We will NOT walk them in the neighborhood. Even though my dogs are small, one is a Chihuahua and one a terrier/x, they think they can take on the world. Not only do I fear another dog would attack them but they bark at any dog, big or small and that would only make things worse.

PLEASE TAKE YOUR BABY TO THE VET ASAP!!!!!

I agree, take Molly to the vet. Their may be internal injuries, or small bite marks on her that may need antibiotics. I would want her checked out completely just to make certain she is 100% ok. The neighbors already have claimed responsibility, so take Molly in just for peace of mind. I also use one of those flex leads, the only bad part of them is they can go way too far on them, or anther animal can get a hold of your dog before u have a chance to intervene. Since moving, Suzi has had a few bad experiences with the managers 2 dogs, one is not much bigger then she is, but is use to being played with roughly by a huge dog, and does not have a lot of smaller dogs social skills, anyway take Molly in to the vet.

I remember one day I was walking my dog down an alley and we walk pass a backyard gate that was wide open. In that back yard was a loose pit bull who right when he seen my little dog started snarling and acting like he was going to attach. I started yelling right away. Thank goodness the owner was right there working under a car and heard me and jumped up and stopped his dog or I don't know what the outcome would have been.

Another incident happened on my block a couple years ago. A big dog (not sure the breed) attacked and killed my other neighbors little dog in front of a lot of people. It was the saddest thing and the owner of the little dog (i think it was a chiwawa) was really upset balling her eyes out. I'm not positive, but I am pretty sure the big dog paid the ultimate price. All because of the owners irresponsibility.

People need to think about things and what can happen before careless things that could have been prevented happen.

I hate to her stories like yours, but I'm glad that she is okay.
I have 3 yorkies and an English Bulldog. (this one being the 2nd one I have owned) I know alot of people fear bulldogs, but I personally haven't seen such a more gentle family dog. Trust me, the Yorkshire Terriers are by far my favorite breed, but the normal English Bulldog owner, takes great pride in their dog, due to the expensive cost of the breed. So it surprises me to hear bad opinions about them. The American Bulldog looks alot like a Pitbull, so the similarities is understandable.
