| ![]() AAAAWWWWW! Dont be insulted or hurt...."runts" are precious, and we all love those little babies, but "Tea Cup" is the fancy name some breeders give their runts.....while it is just a term to mean very small, it is used as a marketing ploy to sell their tiny babies. Not many people want "a runt", but there are hundreds of people clammoring for "Tea Cups"! Whatever you want to call them, they are loved and adorable! |

| ![]() My Gracie is a huge 5lbs but she was the runt of her litter of two. My vet was very concerned that she might have liver shunt or some other disorder. Actually she was just a very picky eater. She stayed very tiny for months until she was about 8 months and then started to grow and gain weight a bit better. Actually she achieved her 5th pound well after her 1st birthday. I guess the "runt" has always caught my eye. I have that mothering instinct. I see something that needs a little extra help and just have to baby it. I knew very little about Yorkies when I got Gracie and actually found this forum when I was desperately trying to find a dog food that she would eat. I guess if I had known what I know now about the disorders that Yorkies are prone to have I would probably not have gotten Gracie. Thankfully, things have worked out well but I guess my point is that I have no problem with my girl being a "runt." ![]() |

| ![]() My little Gracie (my avatar) was the same way. I was so happy she hit 4 lbs. My other two are Rocky 6lbs and Rosie (Gracie's mother) is 6 1/2 lbs. I just worry so much about people trying to breed these little ones. It scares me. ![]()

Uh-oh. I'm just seeing your post, GL. So sorry, dear. I am glad things worked out for you. My Mya is now with a friend of the family. In November, just before I had her groomed and shaved, she was weighing in at 10 1/2 lbs. A big bundle of furry sweetness. My sister-n-law didn't get a dog because my brother said they wouldn't have had time to spend with it. And believe it or not, my current furbaby Miki was the runt of the litter. I'm glad though that she's not really small because my poor baby is highly energetic and she leaps and jumps around like crazy. She's quite feisty, too. | |

| ![]() Paris Hilton got her dog Tinkerbell from Texas Teacups, I think unless you have that kind of money to throw around...$3000 is pretty high. My best friend's yorkies had puppies last year (who I think will end up being 'teacups' because they're 7 months and are barely over a lb) and she sold them for only $600 and that was with their vaccinations and everything. If your sister is looking for a purse puppy to tote around, let her know they need a lot more than just food and water and maybe she should find a puppy she has a connection with instead of a puppy with a designer label =] |

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Have her to look up on them because I wanted a "teacup" before I found all the negative things that came with them. Now Honey is only 3.7 to 4 pounds she is not the smallest but not the biggest. I paid 700 for Honey but I think the lady might have been a puppy mill (maybe) she did have Honey parents but she also had other breeds of dogs also. I like Honey the size she is and i dont think I want a yorkie bigger then her. I would really tell your sister to just read up on it before she buy one. |

| ![]() No, I think she got it right...puppy mills = greeder as in "greedy". They sell dogs that may not appear sick at the time of purchase but major problems don't always show up right away and all it does is cause heartache and an empty wallet.
