My Gracie is a huge 5lbs but she was the runt of her litter of two. My vet was very concerned that she might have liver shunt or some other disorder. Actually she was just a very picky eater. She stayed very tiny for months until she was about 8 months and then started to grow and gain weight a bit better. Actually she achieved her 5th pound well after her 1st birthday. I guess the "runt" has always caught my eye. I have that mothering instinct. I see something that needs a little extra help and just have to baby it. I knew very little about Yorkies when I got Gracie and actually found this forum when I was desperately trying to find a dog food that she would eat. I guess if I had known what I know now about the disorders that Yorkies are prone to have I would probably not have gotten Gracie. Thankfully, things have worked out well but I guess my point is that I have no problem with my girl being a "runt."
