Actually she achieved her 5th pound well after her 1st birthday. I guess the "runt" has always caught my eye. I have that mothering instinct. I see something that needs a little extra help and just have to baby it. I knew very little about Yorkies when I got Gracie and actually found this forum when I was desperately trying to find a dog food that she would eat. I guess if I had known what I know now about the disorders that Yorkies are prone to have I would probably not have gotten Gracie. Thankfully, things have worked out well but I guess my point is that I have no problem with my girl being a "runt." |
Uh-oh. I'm just seeing your post, GL. So sorry, dear. I am glad things worked out for you. My Mya is now with a friend of the family. In November, just before I had her groomed and shaved, she was weighing in at 10 1/2 lbs. A big bundle of furry sweetness. My sister-n-law didn't get a dog because my brother said they wouldn't have had time to spend with it. And believe it or not, my current furbaby Miki was the runt of the litter. I'm glad though that she's not really small because my poor baby is highly energetic and she leaps and jumps around like crazy. She's quite feisty, too.
