| Dogs Loose In Texas After Storm Damage To Homes!!! Local TV is reporting lots of animals from damaged homes and yards are out and running the streets. Local Animal Control agencies are all out and stretched to the limit. One lady they were just interviewing lost both of hers at first but has found one. If you live in the North Texas area, watch out for stray dogs and cats out running or hiding - they could be from areas of damage and as the owners get home from work and school, they will find they are gone. Take appropriate actions to report the find to your Animal Control and ask how they are going to work to find out if it is from a damaged home or place of business and proceed with caution. It would be such a tragedy if in two weeks some are put down because the shelter did nothing or could not find the owner and the dog goes unclaimed by a new family! Surely SPCA or some agency will step in to try to coordinate and administer the return of lost and scared, maybe injured animals to their rightful homes.

| And maybe some even are injured. Imagine coming home to terrible damage and your dog gone!

| This is so sad... I hope they are all reunited. This is why my dogs always wear collars... No matter what you think, you cannot control everything they do.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | and besides a collar having your dog microchiped is essential in emergencies. So please everyone, have a collar and consider microchipping your dogs, it can save their lives and help reuniting your pet with you in an emergency. hugs, |

Seriously..... There seem to have been so many freak natural disasters, lately! We had that Earthquake here in DC... My desk was literally swaying back and forth.... and there were a few tornado watches and some hurricane stuff. I ordered Riley's collar a few days ago. I just now ordered a cute name tag to go along with it Now I'm excited to get them!! He's microchipped, so we got that covered. | |

| I agree. But, in my head when I envision it, I think about normal times if my dog were to get loose and she was taken to a vet or shelter & scanned....but I didn't really think about disaster type events, where shelters/vets could be out of service or destroyed. Nothing like being old school and actually having a few phone numbers on a collar as immediate contact.

| Some of the homes they've shown on TV that aren't totally destroyed have part of the side of the house missing or a large window/French doors/sliding door broken out and any dogs and cats in the house likely just bolted when the tornado and all those pressure changes and things flying about all passed. Some fences were down so poor outside dogs just could run out of their yards.
