This is awful. I haven't had my TV on. Was there a lot of damage? I guess this is one of those unexpected things that people just would never imagine happening to their much loved pets. It would be such a nightmare to be away from home and unable to get back to help in time.

There was a lot of structure, vehicle and yard damage all through North Texas though as yet, believe it or not, no reports of death though worried what the late news will tell. I've now seen some homes that have little but the foundation left. Two schools in Forney were hit but no reports out of there yet. Reporters aren't being allowed on the streets where the schools are.

Did the tornado go through while school was still in session?

It was around 3:40 p.m. - ish I believe and don't know if the two schools there were in lock down or if they had released the children. No reports from Forney I've seen about the schools yet. Reporters weren't being allowed onto the streets the schools were on just before evening news went off at 7:00 p.m.

I'll have to stay up and watch the news at 11:00pm. I hope we are not going to have another tornado season like last year.

Prayers going out to all these people and their animals and hoping they are all reunited. Always have collars with id tags and microchip. You can never be to safe

They were in lockdown. They wouldn't even allow my brother in law to pick his daughter up. Our schools released our kids at 4:40. My in-laws house was one of the many that were severly damaged.

I'm so sorry to hear about your in-laws house. I have a former coworker who lives in Forney and haven't heard from her - I hope her home and family are okay. I did hear finally yesterday that the high school was not damaged even though I was listening live as a woman was calling in saying she was watching it happen. So I never did hear for sure what the school damage was but apparently none of the children were injured or TV news probably would have reported that. I sure hope your family can get a their house repaired or get a settlement sufficient for replacement if it is beyond repair. Were they home during the tornado? I hope not - I think something like that would kind of terrify me for life. I pray that all those who've lost so much from those tornadoes can get a normal life back one day before too long and they are in my prayers.

This is so sad about the scared animals running loose. I hadn't thought about having a collar on in case of a tornado. Last spring we had a tornado come frighteningly close to our house and it still didn't dawn on me about a collar. They do have chips though. Where can I get a collar with the info printed on the collar?
