Mine do not wear collars in the house. They do have their harness' which have all the tags on them when we go out.

There is no way at all that mine can out of the house without me knowing. I am always outside when they are, they are never left alone outside.

They can't get at the front door if the doorbell rings.

Mine are also Micro Chipped.

Kiko wears a harness when we go out for a walk. She is microchipped and wears a collar with an ID tag. Her rabies tag and tag that came with the microchip are on her leash. When she was little, I would have to take her collar off at night and before I left the house because she would try and chew on the tag and would sometimes manage to get the collar in her mouth. Once it was in her mouth, she couldn't get it back out. She stopped doing that before she turned 1. Now she has her collar on almost all of the time except bath time.

Sheldon wears a collar 24/7 unless when taking a bath. It has his id tag, rabies tag and insurance tag. I love to hear him jingle when he walks or run

Thanks All!! He can't get out, at home, without me.... or my knowledge. I am up on the 5th floor of a condo building in the city.

But I am thinking I might need to get him a collar for when we travel.... like when we go to my parents or friends houses, where he could easily slip out the front door. In those instances, we always start with his Buddy Belt on, but I always end up taking it off once we get there. I need to either leave the buddy belt on, or get him a collar with his tag on it.

One of the reasons I haven't got one for him yet is that fear that he will get caught on something. I'll check out the break-away collars.

Mine wear collars and I just got them new ones. Miss Priss's collar is all blinged out with her name and tags, Yoshi's is a manly one with his tags too. I have worried in the past about the dangers of the collars but mine could so easily slip out by accident and I'm not taking any chances.

What a great idea about putting the license on your key ring, so it's always with you! I currently have her license on her black BB, but then don't have it if she wears her red BB, and I just ordered her a light pink one for spring....so I'll be switching the tags to my key ring today

ZoE hasn't ever worn a collar (neither did my last yorkie). She is microchipped. I regret not getting an identification tattoo also done at the time she was spayed, and will probably do that at her first needed dental. I do worry about her accidently getting out of the house, even though that would require 3 doors being left open for her to gain outdoor access....but still I worry.

All three of mine wear a collar and tags. You never know when something might happen. Every story on YT where a dog has went missing begins with "they didn't have their collar on" If a collar fits properly there is no reason why it would get caught and cause a problem.

Please consider using a collar all the time. There was even a story about a burglary in a high rise where a Yorkie was stolen. About a month ago, in Chicago a DJ was searching for there lost Yorkie. He was being watched while the she was out of town. He slipped out of the fence and they looked for him almost a week. The story ended tragically and my heart broke.

I would never have mine without a collar its way to risky for me so many dogs have gotten out with no collar on and were never returned and accidents of them getting out can always happen even when you think you make it impossible. Callie wears a collar with her id tag and rabies tag all the time. I had thought about taking her rabies tag off her collar but I like the jingle, if she did get out I would want people to know she is vaccinated and it has the vets number on there so that's a great second number if they cant get mine to work. I grew up with dogs and we have had goats too and all have had a collar on with a id tag and we have never had any problems.

I have break away cat collars on Yorkies. I used to have a small jimgle bell on each collar...then one day, I cam back from running errands, and Lexee had managed to get a toe nail on her back foot, hung up inside the slit on one of those dad gum bells....she had been contorted in that awful position, with her hind foot hung up in a bell on her neck....I had to rush her to the vet and he used a bone instrument to cut that bell apart to free her toe! From that day on, bells came off, and break away cat collars were ordered. Each collar is personalized with dogs name and my phone number, and rabies tag.

Collar wearer here too. His has a bell because someone likes to sneak into rooms he shouldn't be in by himself and cause havoc! (*sarcastically* Yay for dumpster divers.... his is a cat breakaway collar which stays on better than most people think, and will only fall off when it really needs to. If you want the gingle noise without the bell, you can add metal charms to the collar. Kaji has an ID tag, and a small charm with his initial on it. It's super cute!

Bailey wears a collar. At PetSmart we had a tag made with rivets so it mounted on the collar. It was very easy to install and makes no noise when he follows me like a shadow 24/7.

I LOVE the tags that fit flush on the collar....I have had one of mine get his tags go through the openings on the side of his carrier on a car trip....he had a break away cat collar on so when hepulled back it came off, but I like this flush mount tag...wish rabies tags came this way too!

I wouldn't ever have a dog without a collar. They can get out so quickly, and I want to know that I did everything possible I could to get my dog back to me.

My foster Shelly escaped a couple weeks ago in a spot that I didn't think she could get out of. We were outside with her, but had our backs turned... and she was gone. She made it a block away before someone caught her and called my cell phone because she was wearing a collar. I was already walking the street, but they were able to contact me without going to a vet to scan her (they may not even know to do this).

Louie wears a collar and tags always. When we go for a walk he has a harness on but the collar still stays on. Would not have it any other way.
