You can not control how people were raised. My Gpa was very racists, but that is how he was raised. I still loved him just the same.

What’s wrong with the word “servant”? There are "civil servants", "public servants", "servants of God", and "house servants", who are men or women who are live-in help. I have never heard before that this term is politically incorrect.

I am a Public Servant, no one has ever referred to me this way unless it was in admonishment by a "constituent" unhappy with me. IRS no longer uses the term under Occupation, rather; they use Government employee!!!!

When it was used in that reference it was to belittle me for following the laws and administering them as I am required to do...the laws, they were not able to follow for whatever reason.

Didnt mean to cause problems, sorry everyoje. I totally agree how horrible it is and basically everyone in the family hates his Grandparents. I originally used the word servant in quotations, it is what they call the sweet ladies who work for them. I was blessed to be welcomed into my bfs wonderful family but the grandparents are just awful. They hate me too because im fat...

You didnt cause anything, it was others that caused the problem. The Gparents are stuck in their old ways, cant really do anything about it.

My father-in law is a really great guy, and I love him dearly, but he uses words that I don't like. I've asked him not to use the words in my presence because it truly hurts me when I hear these words that are so filled with hate. He comes from a different time and a different place, and all I can do is ask him to respect me enough that he won't use the words in front of me. Glad your BF's mom and dad aren't like the grandparents.
