My father-in law is a really great guy, and I love him dearly, but he uses words that I don't like. I've asked him not to use the words in my presence because it truly hurts me when I hear these words that are so filled with hate. He comes from a different time and a different place, and all I can do is ask him to respect me enough that he won't use the words in front of me. Glad your BF's mom and dad aren't like the grandparents.
