AKC Yorkie from Petstore?

Well the point I was making is that for the past year that I have been on YT, I have seen the same attacks by the same people over and over. I am not a breeder, have never been a breeder nor wish to become a breeder. I am a person who loves dogs, all dogs. I have had numerous AKC dogs, from Standard Poodle, Keeshone, Bichon Frise, Shetland Sheep Dog, Irish Setter, Brittany Spaniel and now a Yorkshire Terrier. I am 65 years old and have had a dog of my own since I was 5 years old.

Its also important to give factual information for anyone else reading this thread that may be considering buying from a petstore. No one is trying to make her feel crappy or make her feel her yorkie is less than just giving facts about where she purchased. I know it is over and done with now but it may also help her in regards to future purchases also.

Just remember no matter where he came from you are giving him a loving and the best home you are able to provide. I have no doubts he feels loved all the time. Just like my Gizmo who came from a shelter... I sometime think about where he lived before he was picked up. When we got him he had worms, the vet said he has a BB in him......... I keep taking him to the vet to make sure he is OK. So much so my Vet who we have used for years told my husband to tell me "quit worrying he is a happy and healthy dog". I guess I will quit worrying and just know we love him so much and will take care of whatever health needs he has. He has found HIS FOREVER HOME.

the problem with this and every other forum are that our thoughts are typed and not spoken which leaves lots of room to interpret the post differently from what the poster might have meant. I felt the OP was not just getting her question answered but in a way was getting attacked because we are all so passionate against pet stores and puppy mills. You are right she asked a question but at the same time she was trying to validate her puppy, which leads me to think she already knew the answer but was hoping for some type of acceptance. So perhaps instead of turning this thread into the horrors of pet stores and puppy mills a simple reply like yes most pet stores get their dogs from puppy mills, so pay close attention to your dog's health and if you decide to purchase another dog you might be better off looking for an honest breeder, would have been a little nicer. I do notice she has not been back to comment so that tells me she might not be feeling a lot of love.

If posts leave lots of room for interpretation, aren't you basically doing the same thing to us by assuming we're attacking someone??

Yes we are passionate, but that's only due to the amount of posts that often occur that state "My puppy was 8 weeks came from a puppy store, won't eat or drink.."(bad breeder, broker, whatever the source)

It's a common post here and you'll see the alot the longer you stick around. So, if you're upset by the passion that we have, please understand it for the safety of the dogs and for the protection of the owner, their heart, and their pocket book.

Yes I see but she did get a mixture of replies and there was acceptance for her pup. I do see what you are saying but in the interest of educating not only her but many more that are reading you cant not get the info about puppymills in a thread like this especially with the questions she asked. We are reaching a whole forum full of people and guests that read these threads

Not everyone is knowledgeable about puppy mills and where pet store puppies come from (in most cases). Our Ginger, who is 8 now, came from a small independent pet store in Nebraska. The puppies came from a 'breeder' in Missouri. After knowing more about pet store puppies and puppy mills, I believe she came from a puppy mill. She has been a good pet and we love her very much! She is probably the healthiest and most physically fit of our dogs too. You just never know. We are glad we have her and she is a member of our family, no matter what. She was our first small dog, and our first yorkie. Having her is what made us get Maggie, our other yorkie who will be 3 this month. We also have a 2 year old maltese named Lilly. All because we loved Ginger so much that we wanted other dogs similar to her. They are all wonderful dogs!

I wish you all the very best with Yogi! I know he will be loved and will have a great home! Enjoy him and don't look back. He's no longer a pet store puppy or a puppy mill puppy, he's YOUR puppy and a member of your family now.

With that being said, I think there is a good solid line between passion and "attacking".
No one has said anything on this thread that has been in an aggressive manner. Than again, it's hard to me to determine if black and white text could possibly be aggressive, sarcastic, etc.

And with regards to the OP not returning, don't assume we scared her off (once again I wish I could quote your interpretation statement) but she has a new puppy. I'd sure as heck be playing with the pup as opposed to typing on this addictive site.

The thing we must remember is that at least 10 times as many people read these replies, as those that post. Someone sees a picture of an adorable puppy that was purchased from a pet store. Someone reads this and thinks, "Oh that's a great idea. Look how cute he is." I feel like I don't want to make anyone feel bad, but I do want to tell them why buying from a pet store or over the internet is a bad choice.

Passion can be a great attribute if one manages it well. When properly directed, it can lead to many great and positive changes. However it is not uncommon for a very passionate person to mow over and alienate people in their quest to be heard. I know this because I am passionate on several things and constantly fight an internal battle not to let it destroy relationships with people I care about.

you know I came back to my post not long after and was going to delete the word attack because I thought it was the wrong word to use, but the 5 min. rule (which I have just learned about) expired so I could not

Also that post was written after I got attacked for telling the OP that it was not all doom and gloom that health wise her puppy might be OK, after all can any of us predict the health of her puppy, many here have even stated they have healthy dogs that came from puppy mills and pet stores.

No worries. I hate that pesky 5 min rule as well.

But anywho, I'm sorry that you saw it as doom and gloom. But I can honestly say, and I've seen many attackings on here, that many users welcomed her and her little Yogi with opened arms. And simply did as she asked, informed her about how AKC pups and still be puppymill/BYB/greeder pups.

I apologize if you felt attacked my fellow Michigander.
