Also, breeders own the "breeding rights" of their puppies. It is for them to decide whom they will allow to be bred and not bred - not the purchaser. They have control over their own line and rightfully so. A lot of reputable breeders also have in their contract that if the buyer is no longer able to provide a home for the pup, the dog is to be returned to the breeder or the breeder is to be contacted. Reputable breeders do not want their dogs bounced from home to home or want inexperienced ppl placing their dogs.

From the AKC breeders I know, they would be highly upset that their dog was bounced through 4 owners, was never neutered as was supposed to be, and now the 4th owner is calling them demanding breeding rights.

I hope I'm not coming off as rude; however, I thought you should understand the breeder's side of this. I wish you well, hope the pup has found her forever home, and will be well taken care of. From the breeder's standpoint though, I would be livvid if I were her/him.

the original owner did try to give back to breeder but was too inconvenient for her to get the dog back bc they lived 5 hrs away so she placed her in a temp home where supposedly one of her siblings was.... then the third home had two established pomeranians after 8 years and gabby didnt mix in well. i personally dont know about contracts and all that bc my first baby just came with his papers and for a much lesser price.... so i only know what i know. and what i read on ckc site.... i first asked for papers from breeder bc i thought they came with dog. i dont feel like i am demanding, i just dont know how it all works. i just know what i was told

You say you lost track while you were cleaning, this is not supervision, and personally, I wouldn't allow them to play even under my supervision, it can happen in seconds, and you can't pull them apart without injuring them.

You basically bought a rehome, and no papers come with that. Three hundred dollars is a good price for a rehome, that's what many rescues charge. Papers don't have to come with any dog, but if a breeder is advertising being registered with a certain club, papers should come with the dog if you are buying from the original breeder. Is there anyone you can ask to see if it was a "Continental Kennel Dog Club" or if it was a "Canadian Kennel Club dog"?

Hopefully, someone else knew will read this thread and know that the only way to prevent preganancy is to keep all other dogs away from an unneutered/unspayed dog. That's another reason so many people recommend getting your dogs fixed, it's difficult to keep them seperated. I've read numerous threads where someone just left their little girl out for a second and boom another dog was in the yard.

But you can still do the right thing and take her in to get spayed...........

i guess i could ask the breeder, but i am guessing Canadian kennel club, i really dont have a clue. she said gabby comes from a championship pedigreee and listed all sorts of stuff and thats why she sells them for 1200 w/o contract and 750 w contract.

Wait...you should know which club (Canadian vs Continental) if you are looking at the websites and calling the club for paperwork to complain.

"Championship pedigree" is a useless term. Nearly every dog has a champion somewhere in their lines. It only matters when you are referring to the dam or sire. With the prices you are quoting, I seriously doubt that is the case because attaining a Ch is not a cheap proposition. Your statement "12OO w/o contract and 750 w contract" I assume refers to a spay/neuter contract.

i called the ckc: continental kennel club, i didnt know there was canadian until today. everyone states that continental is worthless so i figured maybe ccanadian bc of how much she cost. and yes, the prices were the spay neuter contract... and what is Ch?

her name is tracy rife out of conroe tx.....her website is www.pawfectpuppies.com on her website she claims all her dogs are AKC registered.

These things only mean something if you are going to breed her, they mean absolutely nothing if you just want a pet. A pet is a pet is a pet, they are all the same and they are all champions!

Ch stands for a Champion. Which means the dog/bitch has been shown, and has earned 15pts with two majors to become a Ch. It is axiomatic for any show breeders to Ch their dogs, through AKC, or Canadian Kennel CLub (CKC), a really really good dog, will go onto Ch in Europe and other parts of the world.

How much she cost? $150 that you paid for her? Or the original $750 is not a show dog cost. Sorry but them's the facts of it.

A show quality dog will go for anywhere up of $2800 to $3000 dollars, with a very firm contract in place. And you will need to pass a very stringent set of guidelines. In fact I know very few reputable and top notch breeders who would sell to just "anyone" on an open registration.

How-ever I do know many show breeders, who will given a trust in, and an observable dedication to young passionate caring folks, will place a show pup with them.

My breeder placed a show pup with me. For a lot less than $2800 but we have a very firm contract in place; I'd known and trained with her for over 3 years. Razzle is now an AM and CAN Ch. And only a few pts to go for his Grand Championship. We entered into this as a life long relationship.

For example: my boy is being shown with a new handler here in Canada, to test the handler out; for Westminster/NYC specialty, and to show him in the States. My breeders partner went to the show Friday to observe and see; my breeder was there today for the same; I will be there tomorrow. It is the commitment we make to each other. There is always someone watching!. As will be so, if I trust this handler to take him down to the States. I will network with other show breeders to get feedback.

There are no shortcuts, no "cheap" ways of being a responsible breeder.
