| ![]() Dogs and Old people are 'my thing'. You sound just like me,lol! From the time I could walk, I would walk around our neighborhood and look for dogs and older people, hehe. I met so many wonderful people and fur friends like that! I was adopted as an honorary grand daughter to many an elderly couple. I just always found more in common with dogs and older people. I love to hear their stories and I would take the dogs back to their homes if I could find them. LOL. TO OP: As far as adopting the little furbutt, I see no reason why you couldn't, because they most likely wouldn't even know the baby by the time it gained some weight and he was bathed and groomed. If it is taken away from them that is. I can tell you right now, that if you had went and asked they would have turned you down flat. You see, folks don't want something until they know someone else does!!! My yorkie Mojo was just such a case! Ive had him for a little over a month now, but have known about him for some time. I had went with a friend of mine to one of her family/friends homes to pick up something she needed one day, and saw him in their home. He fell in love with me, and I him. I could tell he needed help so a few days later I asked my friend to inquire if they might want to sell him or give him away because my mom who is terminally ill wanted a fur baby to love, and of course it was NO, I LOVE MY BABY, ETC,ETC,ETC!!! I tried to find a way to turn these people in about his condition, but there was no place in the area they lived. No animal control, no humane society, NOTHING! I was still looking into how to do it, but my friend told me she would get the dog for me as she is kin to them in some way, if she had to go in and take him. I told her not to do that or get herself in trouble. She told me she didn't know why the woman objected so much as she knew they didn't love him and was actually calling him all kinds of foul names, beating him, living crated almost 24/7 with his own feces and urine! They kept him in but never did anything for him as I myself saw feces in a corner of their dining area that day! He was also skin and bones!!! After me spending a couple of nights crying about him and worrying, I decided to go to my sherriff dept and find out what could be done. This was like 2-3 weeks later, but the very morning I was going in, my friend called and said COME OVER TO MY HOUSE AND WE R GOING TO GET THE DOG! The boyfriend said the woman had moved out and left the dog there for over 3 days by itself!!! He was gone that week because they were busting up and he was giving her time to get her stuff moved out so he didn't know the dog was alone, unfed, living in it's own feces!!! He gave me Mojo and his crate, but I had to clean the crate before I could put it in my friends car because it was full of poo that was ground in and all over the food dishes! The sheet she had for him to sleep on was soaked with urine and the smell was horrible!!! I threw the dishes away, but had to keep the crate. If someone thinks you want something they have, they never want to let you have it! So stupid! I would keep my eyes open and if I knew it was taken, I would adopt it, keep it on the down low for a couple weeks until it got fixed, vet checked and shots, etc. and had a good grooming and bathe. Chances are they will never know it was even their dog to start with! Good luck and keep us updated. Oh, and this woman knows me on FB and in life. If she sees I have the dog, so be it! He looks so different now though I don't think she would even have a clue! LOL ![]() |

Interesting, I never knew Mojo's story. But he does look really different now! (very handsome if I may add) I am so happy that he is getting what he deserves now which is a loving home and a caring owner! That's just wonderful!! As for the dog in my area we'll just have to see how things play out. & I will definitely keep you all updated on what happens!!

| ![]() So today I saw the little dog for the first time since AC has been out here. The little 8 or 9 year old had "her" on a leash in the front yard letting "her" go potty. "She" looks better. It looks like they tried to bathe "her", but with the matts on this dog they need to take "her" to the groomers. "She" seemed more energetic (running around on the leash).. but the collar was chocking "her", so I'm thinking about giving them a harnest. Do you guys think that would be to weird? Or should I just explain to them that I heard her choking, and all the dangers of have small breeds on collars instead of harnests?

| ![]() You are so kind. Maybe you could explain to them about the choking and offer the harness to them. Between your help and the animal control, these people could turn into responsible pet owners. Maybe they just didn't know any better before. I'm glad you are there to keep an eye on the dog. |

Thank-you! & You're right, maybe they didn't know any better, but it SEEMS like they are making an effort now.. So the dog might just get to stay with them. & Hopefully if they do keep "her" they will become very responsible and never mistreat "her" again. & yea I'll offer them the harnest.. maybe an act of kindness can win over their friendship and I can keep an even closer eye on the dog.

| ![]() I am amazed at the amount of people who own small dogs who do not understand the dangers of using just a collar with the leash. I just wanted to say that you are this little ones guardian angel. So glad that she had you looking out for her.

| ![]() So they are keeping the dog inside now? I hope so. There was a dog near where I used to work that was kept on a 3 foot chain in front of the house without shelter or food and water. I called animal control and nothing was done. I called again and the dog got a roof nailed over it's head. I had to call many times before the dog was finally taken away. I would have taken the dog had it not been on a road that had quite a bit of traffic on it. The kids were always hanging out on the porch so you never knew when they would be gone. I don't understand why people want these animals except that it is a possession and they have control over it. Your neighbors will probably finally tire of this dog when they cannot house train it or control it in any way. I hope you will be able to help it then. |

Yes they are keeping the little on nside now. I am glad you were able to help the poor baby, and as for my neighbors we'll just have to see about them.

| ![]() This sounds like a case in my neighborhood, kinda. There is this American Bulldog(big dog) that is left outside ALL DAY from 6 am- 8pm or later and has an electric fence and her name is Claire and she just hides in the bushes all day, or chews because she was nevery properly trained. She is getting "good" care, but left out ALL DAY! I talked to him because Bailey likes to boss Claire around by playing with her but then if she gets too rowdy Bailey gets upset ![]() |

| ![]() Contact the humane society not animal control. Does your area have no kill shelters? If not animal control is not a good idea. I would be careful speaking to my neighbors because they may be offended. Many concerned people get insulted just because you care. They may not be approachable. |
