| Congratulations to Mojo and you! You're going to love being owned by a Yorkie! You're going to love him sooo much that you'll probably be looking for another really soon. You'll get into the grooming thing really easy, it's not hard. Right now, I'd just tip his ears out if he were with me! Best of luck to you both. What a wonderful life you both are going to have!

| Thanks so much. I have a shampoo with lavendar in it for skin allergies along with the conditioner. My doxie has bad skin allergies and this seems to soothe her. I did buy a grooming spray, but his neuter has to heal before I can bathe him. I did get some waterless shampoo to help until then. I have a brush for his matting coat, but as soon as I brush him out and it looks so beautiful, it goes right back to looking all messed up. I'm hoping the improvements in diet, excercise, and care will improve him too in the coming weeks. I've only had him a little over a week now. |

| THANK YOU ALL SOOOOO MUCH!!!! I will go right now and watch these vids and check out all the products you have all suggested! I think your right FIDebra, I bathed him 2 times the first day as the smell was overwhelming! It may take me cutting his hair to get rid of the urine and feces that I just know soaked up into his coat!!! I was so heartbroken when I first saw him! I think I read somewhere here that a little coconut oil in his chow would help inside and out, so I'm going to try it and see. He seems to have the color and markings of YT and the hair on his head is silky and fine and is starting to turn a tan with some silver coming in. I parted the hair and it is tan down at the roots, but I know he is not AKC standard perfection,LOL. His body hair is thicker than the head and has a little wave to it, but I'm so confused about the different coat types. Wish I could find more pics on the net showing each so I would know which type he is. I will never be trying to show my little fur buddies, so I'm just fine with whatever color, coat, size he has. He's a sweetie and so smart! I potty trained him in a couple of days and now he even whines when he needs to go out. Not one accident in his crate which to me is amazing after having done it there for so long! Just goes to prove that given even the smallest attention and care, any dog can learn and be a wonderful family member! Thanks so much everyone, you are all so generous and kind! I knew this would be a good site with great people! Everytime I googled anything about yorkies, this site would pop up and I knew I had to join! |

Off the top of my head, if you go to Biogroom's website I believe they will ship out free samples of their products. Try to get them to include the Silk Conditioner I just adore that one. Velus also has a sampler pack, that will last you either 4-6 washing depending upon the dilution rate you choose. While you didn't mention it and I don't know if you know how to do this, but often times a Yorkies anal glands will need to be expressed/emptied. Please ask your vet to show you how to do this. As a new Yorkie owner if you goto the Health library you should update yourself on the recommended protocol for vaccinations of toy breeds. Your boy looks adorable to me there is lots of Yorkie in him, with a hint of something else. I would also suggest that if you don't have pet insurance, you investigate getting some in place for your pups. Yorkies and that includes mixes can have health problems of one nature or another, and it is best to try to have some protection either through the health insurance or put aside some money each month for future care. As well as our dogs age, health problems are more likely and you'll be happy you've prepared for them. We like to buy Savings Bonds, just a small monthly amount every month and pretty soon you have a respectable amount set aside that earns interest year by year. Welcome to the joys of being owned by a Yorkie

| Welcome to YT. We are so happy that you found Mojo. He is very cute and looks Yorkie, Terrier something, which means nothing. LOL. Many pedigreed Yorkies don't come even close to the perfect standard either. To me my Rubyboy is beautiful, he was never bred, his coat is not quite right and his teeth are a little off. His father and mother were show dogs and champions. Gracie is a rescue and stunning when in full coat, in short hair her nose is too long and pointy. I could go on, and on, but you see what I mean. I learned to groom my own and I am so glad I did. Deb sent you the same grooming thing I was going to. So you have that Again Welcome ! Teresa and the Just Right Yorkie Gang,

| Hello and welcome!!! So happy you found your lil guy. You really have done a wonderful thing, if it wasn't for you he still would be living in those horrible conditions. So bless you. He does look like he has yorkie in him. All the members here are wonderful and full of knowledge if you have any questions.

| He is such a cutie. He needs a good food that has the omega oils in it for his coat. Like someone else said....the best quality food you can give him will improve his coat and his health in general. I believe in feeding a more natural diet. He may have some oily skin that is causing his fur to get messy looking so quickly. Maybe only use conditioner on his ends or where he tangles the most. As his health and diet improve his coat will also. The omega oils are so important and will help the skin become normal and not be so very oily. Sometimes if the shampoo you used dries out the skin it causes the skin to let out extra oil to compensate for the lost moisture from the soap in the shampoo. I don't know if someone mentioned that there are some grooming videos in the grooming part of this forum under the sticky area. I am so glad you rescued this sweet fella from such an awful life. That is what is most important. Would love to hear how he does as his life with you goes on. |

| Thank you all so much for the advice and encouragement! I always try to find out all I can about a breed whenever I rescue, and I can see I came to the right place for help and friendship!!! I've raised all kinds of prison babies, Bassett hounds, beagles, doxies, Poms, Labs, but never have a terrier. It's so amazing to me how each breed has it's own personality traits and egos. There are so many different ways they love you as well and vice versa. I've had people actually tell me IT'S ONLY A DOG, and call me a pushover, a softie, whatever! I don't care because when I stand before the CREATOR and he asks me what I did with my life to help others and take care of the gifts he gave me, I can at least say I did what I could to protect, love, and honor those gifts. For me, as I'm sure it's the same way for many of you, fancy houses, cars and clothes mean nothing, they pale by far in comparison to a living being that the LORD made, and to help them is to help ourselves, and show appreciation for ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL. I so look forward to learning more from all of you, and getting to know you and the sweet souls you love too! <3 |

| Hi! Welcome! I, too, just adopted a little Yorkiepoo myself! So I am getting used to it all, just like you! He is so so cute! I love his eyes! Now, I know you asked for recommendations for grooming. I don't have any specific sites, but I do recommend using YouTube! I use YouTube for EVERYTHING! I have learned how to cut my own hair, grill a steak, put extensions in my hair, do makeup, bake a cheesecake and so so so much more! Lol! So my point is, I am almost positive that if you search YouTube you can find a grooming video! And the best part is, they are free! So just go to YouTube and do a simple search in the search bar. Good luck! And remember, they don't need all the froo froo, frilly, expensive stuff to have a good life -- he is already having a great live because YOU rescued him and brought him into a great home! All the love, care and attention means so so much more than bows, fancy clothes and whatnot! Love and a good home is all he needs and it looks like he has that with you!
