Salmonella :'( Max is not doing any better he hasn't thrown up or pooped since last night, but thats because he refuses to eat :(. He won't drink either.. After a long argument on the phone with my mother I found out that she gave both of them pig ears!... I have bought these in the past but I never gave it to them because I found out they were on recall for that salmonella disease. Snowflake seems fine (but she's going to the vet too just in case) and Max is really sick. I looked up the early symptoms of salmonella, and it said things like fast heartbeat, fever, quick to tire, diarrhea, shock, lethargy, deydration, etc.... Well Max is showing A LOT of these signs.. So I got dressed to take him to the ER (i didn't care how far it was). Then i remembered my friend borrowed my car to go to an aunts funeral (thats why the ER was out of the question) in South Carolina (I had been promising her she could borrow it for about a week) and since we don't have an ER close to where i live I knew no one would take me.. but I called people anyway, of course they all said no... I even called my mother, she also said no (go figure). My father was asleep, but I woke him up (with my constant phone calls), he said he was tired from the trip (i didn't care) and that he would take us to the vet tomorrow (which is today). So today they are both going to get tested for salmonella.. I feel like such a careless parent for leaving them with my mother and sister. I have so many emotions sturring right now. I just feel like if I hadn't left them with her none of this would be happening. It seems like forever since I've seen him run or play (its only been 1 day and 2 nights). Thank-you all for your well wishes and support. I couldn't ask for more. You all are keeping me sane. & I really do appreciate everything you guys say and have said. Sorry its a little long... again. |

I would take him to the ER, I swear I would, but I didn't have a car last night and still don't have one today... No one would take me last night so my father is taking me today. |
Poor littlie, and poor you too. What a nightmare. And you weren't being a careless mummy - you were leaving them with the people you thought you could trust most in this world. They're the ones who have let you down. What a terrible way to learn this lesson. I really hope today goes ok for you all - please try not to murder your father in the car, as he's driving :) ;) Sally + Harry x |

Praying that everything turns out well. |
So sorry for you & Max..hoping to get good news on him soon |
how awful, you used more restraint that I would have used. Hope you both feel better soon |
Hoping that everything is okay with your little guy ..... I would be furious with my family for doing that to him. But what is important now is that he get feeling better as quickly as possible. Let us know what the vet said please. Thinking of you both :) |
Staying with the vet I just got back from the vet... without Max. He said the Max's colon is swollen.. and because he was throwing up he may have some blockage in his intestines. So they are keeping him for the day, but they told me to call around 4 to see how he's doing. I really wish I could just stay with him at the vet... I know he's terrified (he hates the vet).. He cried when he saw me leaving the room, it broke my heart . But I know they are only there to help... I just miss him already. Thanks everyone for the support and prayers.. I just can't seem thank you enough. |
Poor little Max, what a horrible situation! I am already terrified of leaving Lola at all, I can't imagine this happening and especially by my family! My heart goes out to you! Me and Lola will be thinking of you and Max and please keep us updated, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and will send some prayers your way that everything is ok **HUGS** |
I'm so glad you took him and he is getting the help he needs!!! That is what is most important. I will be praying for him. Yes, leaving a little one at the vet is VERY hard to do...I've had to do that myself. BUT, I am proud of you for taking him and getting him the help he needs!!! Just think how happy you will be when he is back to his playful self!! Please keep us posted and hang in there!!! |
I know you know this - but he's in the best place. I so wish we could talk to our littlies, and that they'd really understand :) Everything crossed for you both and hope the day goes really quickly for you :getwellso Sally + Harry x |
