It Is JUST A DOG, well not to me ! :( I admit most of us on YT are not typical pet owners. I would have flipped out too. I would never treat my Yorkies that way. Nor would you or most of us who belong to YT. My Mom- inlaw is the sweetest, nicest, most unselfish, Christin lady I know. She would go hungry to feed a needy friend. But She would not think there was anything wrong with what happened. She probably would have put the dog in the garage or in the yard. She really doesn't think that dogs belong in the house at all. When she was growing up the farm dogs never set a paw in the house, ate table scraps, and did their job. They hunted to put meat on the table, barked at strangers and killed rats and other vermin that bothered the livestock. And brought the cows in from the pasture. Mom understands about routine shots and getting them 'fixed' and that is ok with her. She has never had a pet. She would never let a dog lick her face, sleep in her bed, or spend money on getting its teeth cleaned, buying special food, toys or clothes. Because it is an animal. It is JUST a dog. My Mom- inlaw has a world view that is so different from mine. She is my Hubby's mother and I love her, but I sure wouldn't ask her to watch my Yorkies. Maybe your family feels like, IT IS JUST A DOG, and wonder why are you so upset. |
I would be BEYOND pissed! Wow. That poor baby. I am just so glad he's back in your arms. I know Jackson would have been sooo distraught had someone just put him in a closet and let him cry all night. How terrible. :( |

I am glad he's back too! He doesn't want to leave my lap, he's been sleeping since we got home (because i'm pretty sure he didn't get any sleep last night), and he wakes up about every 15 minutes or so to lick my arm for a while and then back to sleep he goes. I hate to see him like this, but he's had a rough night so he can act this way for as long as he wants. |
Glad you were able to hold your tongue,,you would probably still be there if you hadnt. The other sad thing here is your own family showed a great lack of respect for a tiny life and your feelings. I know that you feel betrayed and that saddens me. My husband have a saying "friends are for fun, family is for frustration" . Be sure to line up baby care so you have a plan if something comes up suddenly. |
I would be beyond pissed if I were you. I have to applaud the self control you had out of respect for your family. I doubt I would have used that restraint. Im sure after a day of extra loving he will be back to his old self in no time. |
Why were they so nice to one dog and so mean to the other? That's the part I don't understand. There are a lot of people who believe dogs don't belong in the house, period, but I don't see why they would let one dog sleep in the bed and lock the other away. |

Thank-you, it really helps to know that you all feel the same way I do!! & I sure hope so!! |
Poor Max! I would have been beyond angry as well. I can't imagine my little monkey locked in a tiny dark closet all night. He would have pitched an absolute fit. Give him an extra cuddle from me. |

That's the part I really don't get either!! I think there is something they aren't telling me. Like maybe he had an accident in the house, because he's only 5 months, but that doesn't justify their actions!!! Nothing he could've done should've made them so angry that they wanted to lock him in a closet all night. I just don't get them. |
