Do NOT try to second guess what you should of,could of or would of done. You are supposed to be able to rely on your family. As a mother of several "adult" children I would NEVER treat them, their pet or their child this way. If you are going to continue your relationship with your mother and sister I would like to suggest that you move forward with care. You can not MAKE them care about your baby, you can not talk them into it.
I pray that your baby gets well quickly. Your sister (who I am guessing is a minor) may of done the act of cruelty, but she had your mother's blessing on it and she was the one that was supposed to be in charge. You could not of forseen what they would do,but you can make sure that it does not happen again.
Having grown up in a house where people acted like this,I went to sleep last night thinking of how your heart must feel. Again I will continue to pray for you both as I go about my day. Please keep everyone here updated,we do care and prayer does work.

Yes, leaving a little one at the vet is VERY hard to do...I've had to do that myself. BUT, I am proud of you for taking him and getting him the help he needs!!! Just think how happy you will be when he is back to his playful self!!

Please keep us posted and hang in there!!!

Thank-you, and as crazy as this sounds i can't wait until he's back to "torturing" his older sister and the house is filled with the sound of his little feet hitting the (hardwood) floor, or his panting from running a "marathon".

Thank you soo much!! I have to keep telling myself this to keep me from worrying so much. But it seems like time has stopped, it feels like its been weeks since I left him.

You are absolutely right, I can't change the past, and I can't make them feel how I feel about my babies. Yes my sister is a minor, barely (17 years old), thats old enough to know better, but my mother did know what was going on and did nothing to stop it. I WILL make sure this never happens again... EVER again. Thank-you for your prayers and thoughts I really really appreciate it.

Oh no, poor baby:( I hope the vet is able to figure out what's making him so sick, and fix him right up. I'm sure that you will be on pins and needles all day today, so I'm sending you a HUGE hug from Florida!!!!

Oh my goodness I'm just reading this about poor little Max being really sick now! What a nightmare you are living through! I'm like the other poster in that you can't blame yourself for leaving him with your family - who wouldn't do that?

I am hoping and praying that you get a good report from the vet soon and that nothing really bad is wrong. Please try to hang in there and believe that the vet is going to get him through this! Tibbe and I are sending hugs and Yorkie kisses your way.

I'm so sorry that little Max has had to go thru all this. I hope he gets better quickly and is back home with you where he belongs. :) Teddy Bear and Daisy send hugs and kisses.

Max is not doing any better he hasn't thrown up or pooped since last night, but thats because he refuses to eat :(. He won't drink either.. After a long argument on the phone with my mother I found out that she gave both of them pig ears!... I have bought these in the past but I never gave it to them because I found out they were on recall for that salmonella disease. Snowflake seems fine (but she's going to the vet too just in case) and Max is really sick. I looked up the early symptoms of salmonella, and it said things like fast heartbeat, fever, quick to tire, diarrhea, shock, lethargy, deydration, etc.... Well Max is showing A LOT of these signs.. So I got dressed to take him to the ER (i didn't care how far it was). Then i remembered my friend borrowed my car to go to an aunts funeral (thats why the ER was out of the question) in South Carolina (I had been promising her she could borrow it for about a week) and since we don't have an ER close to where i live I knew no one would take me.. but I called people anyway, of course they all said no... I even called my mother, she also said no (go figure). My father was asleep, but I woke him up (with my constant phone calls), he said he was tired from the trip (i didn't care) and that he would take us to the vet tomorrow (which is today). So today they are both going to get tested for salmonella..

I feel like such a careless parent for leaving them with my mother and sister. I have so many emotions sturring right now. I just feel like if I hadn't left them with her none of this would be happening. It seems like forever since I've seen him run or play (its only been 1 day and 2 nights).

Thank-you all for your well wishes and support. I couldn't ask for more. You all are keeping me sane. & I really do appreciate everything you guys say and have said.

Sorry its a little long... again.

Im sorry for all your going through and keeping your babies in my prayers. Hopefully its just a little stomach upset. Prayers and good thoughts for you and your babies

I can't believe I missed your post about leaving him! I have been reading and looking for the update from the vet but didn't realize you had posted it until I saw others talking about it.

I'm so sorry you had to come home without him. Keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers for everything to be fine.

BlueBelle 11-07-2011 10:31 AM

This has been just awful all the way around. Closet/ pig ears!! I feel very bad for both of you. Hopefully he has nothing serious and it was just all the stress but I do worry about pancreatitis with the pig ears!! :(
Hope he is home with you soon. Best wishes and prayers for healing for you both.

Thank-you soo much. I am hoping and praying it is something minor.

Ok so I told you all the vet said that I could call around 4.. well I couldnt wait and I called around 3:40ish (that was close enough).. Well they said he's doing fine, but he didn't like being in the kennel (I figured that). They said the pig ears shocked his system and that he would be fine (they said they have some medicine for him though), and I can get him tomorrow!! But tomorrow was to far, So I told them I had to bring him his blanket or he would cry through out the night.. and they agreed to let me bring him his blanket!! He looked better when I got there... His tail was standing up.. and they also said he hasnt thrown up the food they gave him!! I am so happy and excited!! I cannot wait until tommorow!!

Thanks everyone (I am going to keep saying it until you all are tired of hearing it)!!! You all have really made these last 2 days a lot easier for us!! Thank-you for the well wishes, prayers, suggestions, and encouraging words!!!.... THANK-YOU ALL!!!... Again!
