				   | I am sorry this part did not post: I think it would be wonderful if you could adopt an older adult rescue. Maybe your local shelter has someone who would be just perfect for you. I understand the hole in your heart. |

				   | Ohhh how sad ! Not fair that you couldn't keep Lily I reccomand you just keep looking at rescues or the SPCA and wait for the perfect yorkie to arrive. You could also call maybe 1 a week and ask if there is any yorkie up for adoption that might fit you or let them have your phone number and let them call you when there is a yorkie there that needs a good loving home !

				   | Do you have enough money though to care for a yorkie ? Yorkies can be prone to problems like Patella luxation, Fido has to go through a PL surgery this winter cause he has 2-3 grades on one knee, just that surgery costs me 1.000 $ , very expensive ! Then I have to bathe him 1 a week with quality shampoo, 1 bottle of shampoo and conditioner costs 20-40$ each and I use a half shampoo bottle a month, his food is about 50$ a month, then clothes so he doesnt get cold in the winter, go to the groomers every 2 months or so that costs 70$ here. Then if something happens you have to be able to pay the vet. And then ofcourse harnesses, leashes, collars, tags etc. I spend about 100$ a month on Fido. I hope you find your perfect yorkie !! good luck

				   | I'm so sorry you have had to go through this - it must be really frustrating and upsetting. Since the breeder has a history of sending her back and forth to your friend she may decide to send her back when she need another break or needs to travel again. If you can keep on good terms with this woman maybe you could offer to keep Lily when she needs you to and then talk with her about signing Lily over to you. Good luck Teresa |

				   | Lily is spayed. She had all of her shots—everything. We were able to afford her health care, including grooming and vet bills (teeth cleaning, etc.). The main issue of buying a new puppy is the initial cost. I certainly did not mean to convey that I am unable to properly and fully care for her, nor did I mean to scare anyone into thinking I was irresponsible, truly. I'm currently building my career, so the budget is there for her needs, but not to go out and purchase a new puppy or other large money items this year - next year more than likely. That was one reason we agreed to keeping her was because she was given to us, thus we could afford her. In an interesting turn of events... our friend called her daughter and son-in-law who originally had Lily. The son-in-law has apparently dealt with the breeder before and worked with her son for several years. He was able to talk to her and ask her to seriously evaluate whether or not keeping Lily was going to work with her lifestyle anymore. He called us and spoke with us and was really good. We will have a decision tomorrow. The only hitch is the breeder said she would still like to see her on occasion and meet my sister and I. We are considering the suggestion to ask to purchase her. That would take care of any issues that might arise. Either way, it will be okay. The whole thing is beyond crazy. But hopefully the time will come when either Lily will be ours or else we will eventually find another Yorkie. Thank you all for the support. It is truly a distressing situation but so glad I found this forum. |

				   | My pets have always been as dear to me as my children. Most mothers will turn into a lioness if someone tries to take or hurt one of their children. If you really care for that dog you will do what ever is necessary to get her back. I assume the dog is trained and is comfortable with you so I would say getting her back would be much better than starting over with a puppy at this point. You also might consider that this little dog has no idea why the people who have been caring for her all this time are suddenly gone. She must be in a state of confusion right now. I hope this women will consider selling her to you for the dogs sake at least. It doesn't matter that the women is gaining in this situation. You are doing a loving service for the dog. I'd break out my the highest interest credit card if I had to. |

				   | And could everyone cut the obligatory "can you afford a yorkie" lecture? A little compassion is in order here, not robotic repetition of the party line.
