I like unique names too. Not SOOO unique that they are like, totally wacky, but just different and not very common. Jackson is becoming fairly popular and it's annoying, haha. I've seen/heard of a lot of kids being named Jackson lately. But at the time of naming him, I hadn't ever met a dog or a person named Jackson.

The names I picked for my daughters had meanings. Amy means beloved, and Karrie -- which is a form of Carolina --same as Colleen. They complained, like you, that they had too many friends with the same name. oh well.... what can you do lol A couple of names I wanted.. Jessica Denise for one.. I could not use because I had friends that had dogs with that name. lol I should have used them because the friends moved, and my daughter would never had know she was named after a dog. lol

| I read somewhere a while ago that the most popular names given to pets are names we give our children. I had my son help me with both our dogs. When Suzi came up it is so cute and upbeat that it fit perfectly. When we went through names for our shih tzu the name Miely popped up , and it also fit. I was not thinking Miely Cyrus ...though.

| Zoe, named by my daughter (who rescued her) and her boyfriend (he is Greek), means "life" in Greek. I thought it should have an "i" or "y" on the end, but that was apparently not Greek. Cindy, named by my kids after the movie The Grinch, which was out at the time, so her full name is Cindy Lou Who. Cooper, named by my daughter after the Mini Cooper, her favorite car at the time Emma Grace again--named by my daughter, after the baby Rachel had on Friends. ...My daughter, BTW is able to convince anyone of anything. I've always said she could sell ice to an Eskimo, for twice what it was worth and they'd end up wishing they'd paid more than they did. I guess she was convincing with dog names along the way! We also had: Jack (Yukon Jack, an American Eskimo, my first "baby" who lived to 14 and I still have dreams about him. Baxter, a cavalier, I named him! He was very sick with some sort of brain seizures and had to be pts at 3. Cats: Pickles and Tickles, given to my daughter, and named by her, at age 4 (thanks, Mom), Casper and Minnie, big and white and tiny and squeaky respectively , before I was married. I know I'm forgetting someone... Thanks for the thread, it's fun to remember them all!

| I named my Lizzie (Elizabeth Marie) it just seemed to fit her. Willow Grace was named by her foster mom and I added Grace as her middle. Allie Nicole was named Alex (she was an owner turn in to rescue and that was her name) I thought it sounded like a boy so I changed it to Allie Nicole.

| Kobe got named after Kobe Bryant from the LA Lakers. Hahaha. Then I got Jada. I was gunna name her Eevie, but then I didn't wanna be mean to her since Kobe has a celebrity name....so then I started thinking of celebrities. I didn't really like them. So then I was gunna name her Jade, but I don't really like one syllable names. So I just kept repeating Jade over and over and over again. All of a sudden, it started sounding like Jada. So then I was like "Hey Jada! Just like Jada Pinkett Smith!" A celebrity name! So that's how Jada and Kobe got their names...from celebrities. Lol |

| Nilla! ... I'm still geeking out that you named your Yorkie Thor. -Internet high five- I had a list of names picked out that I liked (Miette -- still love that one, Pippa, and Nilla), and my husband's favorite out of those was Nilla. I decided to side with him and call her that because it's very cute, it's not too human-y (I don't like when you name a dog something and you know a ton of people with the same name or call it out and someone else responds) but not a common dog name either, and it's easy for other people to pronounce! Plus, when I explain what her name is I can just say 'Nilla Wafer' and people get it, lol! I didn't intend on giving her a middle name, but I usually call her Nilla Bean (like vanilla bean ice cream) unintentionally when I play with her, so she'll probably think her name's Nilla Bean. That's okay though, she kind of has the look of vanilla bean ice cream. Sorry guys, I'm a rambler.

| Ours is obvious.... Allie and Noah are named by my daughter after characters in her favorite movie/book, The Notebook. Allies full name is Allison Joy (Joy is my first name) and Noahs is Noah David (David is hubby's first name) We are looking at another boy and having a heck of a time with a name so far. I am letting the breeder know yes or no and deposit Saturday!

| I named Princess this because it is the rarest dog name ever. I planned on spoiling her rotten & I thought I could find so many "personalized" things for her as I was unaware of the massive yorkie market! I'm known for giving strange nicknames & her's is either Puppy or Principal since she does run things quite a bit! If I adopt a young one I'd like to name her Luna Lovegood after Harry Potter's friend. My last name is Goodacre so her name will be Luna Lovegood Acre. But that's quite a ways away. There are so many cute names. Lil Sis, I like your themed names. My mom had dalmatians- Tequila & Margarita.
