| Crying for no reason?? This morning was a new event. Tike just had his first obedience class last night. he loved it. he had so much fun and he did so well. Tike's usual schedule is up at 4 am to go potty or get a drink of water. This morning was different though. He woke up and I got him out of his kennel like normal but he did not go to the bathroom. waiting 30 min, i figured he doesn't have to go. so i put him back in his kennel and went to bed. he didnt even make it 2 min before he started barking again. so i waited a few min, and then i guessed since when i let him out he got a drink maybe he had to pee then. of course not he didn't he just wanted to play. so another 5 min trying to get him to go to the bathroom and nothing. so i put him back in his kennel but this time I moved his kennel to the other end of our house so that we could all get some sleep. i herd him barking for about the next 10 min then i fell asleep. until 6 when my wife and I got up for work/school. I don't know what to do, please someone help me. should I keep his kennel in that other room and "make him" cry it out, but the issue is I dont want him to go to the bathroom if i dont hear him.. I'm just so lost. I want to do the best I can for my Puppy. he is 16 weeks old now. he should be able to hold it for the night, because he did last night now. I hope I'm not hurting my puppy I am very worried. please someone assist in this matter!

| Hi, It sounds to me as if Tike wanted your undivided attention and was trying his luck! My Yorkie sometimes decides he wants to go into the garden and look for foxes at odd hours during the night, I used to relent and get up 3 or 4 times to let him out. Now I just ignore him and eventually he comes back to bed (he sleeps with me, very spoilt dog I'm afraid) Tike may have been excited still from his training class and was raring to go but don't worry I'm sure you haven't hurt him in anyway, he sounds as if he is much loved. Keep to your old routine and everything will be ok. Very best wishes, Tracy |

| My little girl molly is 12 weeks and she sleeps with me ive had her for 6 days and at night every nite she has slept 8 hours without waking up to go potty. I slept extremely lightly checking on her every hour the first few nights but no waking or accidents. I think it all depends on the puppy. After you got him out twice in a row im sure he wanted to play and was ready to be up. Best of Luck!!!!

| I think that sometimes they have issues with separation. If you put him in a crate, try keeping him in your room, where he can see you. That may comfort him and he may then go back to sleep. If you shhhhsss him a couple of times - he should get the message (hopefully) Good luck!

| If your pup is only 16 weeks, he doesn't want to be separate from you, these little guys attach very quickly, they are like babies at this age (well, all their life really ), and it wasn't too long ago he was taken from his littermates and momma. Keep him in his crate in your room, on your bed, or nitestand right next to you where he can see you at night. I would not leave him all alone at the opposite end of the house, how lonely he must feel not knowing if you have left him or not. I think you will find you will get much more sleep if he is close by, he will be happy and you will be happy

| "Neener Mom, I didn't really have to potty I just wanted you to let me out because I know you are careful and concerned like that..." Princess said that to me on many occasions I swear! I don't let my dogs sleep with me (okay they do sneak now) we kennel now we can leave kennel doors open and they go in their bed on their own...the kennels are right next to our bed like night stands and for my dog that cannot go in the kennel-it is a cage to him he has a bed under my bed...I can always see and hear them....always...some I have noticed do better in a play yard instead of a kennel...always keep a pup with you for behavioral, safety and training groundwork-a blanket over the kennel can help...

| Update!*** Last night I wanted to see something, I think it might work after a little bit of time. I kept him in the laundry room, same as the night before after his crying episode. He did wake up a few times over night but I know he didn't have to go potty so I left him in there until 5:45 when i got out of bed. He was so happy to see me, he went to the potty pad and went to the bathroom #1 &2 and he was just so happy. he ate breakfest and drank water. I feel bad for forcing him to stay in there and cry it out. but I feel like this morning when I left he was much happier. So if anyone has any idea whether this is ok.. please let me know. I don't want to hurt my puppy, but the results this morning even though he woke me up like 4 times I let him alone and after 5 min of crying he would get another hour or two of sleep. So hopefully I'm doing everything that is strict but ok.
