From the limited information you shared with us, I would not purchase from the last two breeders you met. Breeders do not let anyone near their babies when they are 1 week old and the potential of bacteria being so high. Babies at 1 week old should not be handled very much. Another thing, $800 for a ckc (continental) is way overpriced since the ckc can't guarantee the dog is a purebred. I would seriously consider the first breeder. That doesn't mean sign a check in that breeders name, you still have a lot of research to do.

| Just a note of caution, red is not a "rare" color, it is a genetic anomaly and some breeders would not even breed this dog. I hope you didn't pay extra because the mom is a "rare" color. They can still be AKC registered, if they are a pure bred yorkie with a color variation. Standard yorkies are black and tan and that is what the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America recognizes. Just be sure she is healthy! As others have stated, toy breeds should not leave mom until about 12 weeks. A good vet will confirm this. These smaller dogs need extra time to learn socialization so that they do not turn out skittish/biters. Again, just a word of warning to please do your research about not only when you should be bringing this yorkie puppy home, but also about the color variation. Good luck to you! I know how very excited you are to be bringing a new puppy home.

| Yorkie Talker | Wow I did not even think about the age of 7 weeks. Thanks, I am thinking since she lives practically on the other side of town I could visit the pup a lot. I'm thinking that maybe I could adopt her at 7-8 weeks, and bring her over to visit her mom regularly. Would this be an ok option? |

| Yorkie Talker | Yes I have done some research and 12 weeks is the desired age, But it is common to get the pup at 8 weeks as well. I'm definitely thinking about waiting a few extra weeks, since it could really benefit the pup. I am so excited! We're probably going to go take pictures soon! ^_^ ( Oh and 'Texaskat08' I live outside of Mobile ) I am so glad I found this site by accident, It is definitely helpful!

| Just because it's common for people to get pups at 8 weeks doesn't make it right.

| Yorkie Talker | You're so right. I also heard from a lady I work with that she owned a Male Yorkie in the past, and his fur started to kind of fall out a little at a time. She noticed the dog never really wanted to go and play in the grass. Turns out her vet figured out that her Yorkie was allergic to the grass in her back yard! I thought that was a bit weird, Just hope My future Yorkie is nice and healthy.

| Yorkie Talker | Ok so my little cutie is so big now!! Well not really, considering she is a Yorkie but she is so grown!! She is about 6 weeks old and oh so playful. I am pretty sure I want to name her 'Nala'. I am so excited, not too long of a wait left!
