| ![]() Thank you everyone who replied. The results are in today. She is not even a Yorkshire Terrier. She is half Silky Terrier and the other half is a Shih Tzu mix. The DNA was taken by a Wisdom Panel blood sample. So, needless to say, we are very upset and are going to be contacting the breeder this evening and going to her house for a full refund. I will keep you updated on the results of our efforts. I believe what she did is illegal and we can fight it. Now we feel unsatisfied because we didn't really get what we wanted. So, we are thinking about buying a second dog that is 100% Yorkshire Terrier. We wouldn't have thought to get a second dog, we really just want one Yorkie. But, since Nibbler has become part of the family, we can't part with her. Can anyone advise me as to where to find a legit Yorkie? I found my breeder on puppyfind.com. Is AKC registration 100% legitimate? How does AKC verify that puppies are purebred? Thank you, Anastasia |

| ![]() Sucks that you got scammed, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get your money back! And even if it doesn't work out, Nibbler looks like a badass pup. She's already got a great personality, and I think she's GORGEOUS. Post more pics! I think you should make her this: Brain Slugs (free amigurumi crochet pattern / Futurama) | Hook and Needles: Knitting and Crochet Blog (cool stuff, techniques, and things I find) Or a ham! ![]()

Wow. I'm amazed at what breeders do. I'm so sorry this happened to you. She is precious though. I'm sorry I don't have any information to give re AKC, but I wanted to say how terrible I feel for you. And good job on exposing that breeder. I'll be following Nibbler's story. Good Luck!!! | |

| ![]() Go to dog breeds and check on Bichon Yorkie mix and also go to the Yorkie section and check the different mixes there such as Yoranian, Yorkinese, and under Pugs, Pugshire and Pugairn. |

| ![]() Check the YTCA breeders: Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club But also read this first: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ead-first.html Good luck on finding your Yorkie ![]() Ask lots of questions of a breeder before making decisions, a good breeder will not mind questions. Remember this is a decision that will last for many years so don't make it in haste. if you are not sure about a particular breeder you can always ask members here. Also check out this section: Breeder, Vet, & Groomer Reviews - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community I am so glad that you are keeping Nibbler.

| ![]() ![]() The breeder said that we could return the dog to her and she would give us the money we paid for the dog. We would have to drive 90 miles to her house to give her Nibbler in order to get our money back. This payment would not include any of the fees we've incurred trying to determine the breed. We paid $90 to have a Wisdom Panel done plus already gave Nibbler her 12 week vaccinations. I don't want to return the dog. What should I do? If I open a small claims case, will they ask that I return the dog in order to get my money and fees for the DNA test back? A mixed breed dog isn't worth what I paid. I paid $400 for her. Mixed breed dogs are frequently available for free or under $100.00. |

| ![]() I'm so sorry you're going through this. The only advice I can give you is if this had happened to me, I would never want that woman to have this poor little puppy back. Anyone who uses dogs to scam people out of their money probably doesn't put their heart into taking care of them. I'm sorry you spent $400 on what you thought was a Yorkie but Nibbler is sooo cute just the same!! I would still research what legal actions you could take against her so that her business can be shut down and this won't happen to anyone else but I definitely would NOT give that precious pup back to her! Best of luck to you and congrats on your new little addition!! Loved the pictures!!! ![]()

I agree with everyone else, do not return this puppy to this Breeder...she will surely just scam another owner. One of the first red flags you should have noted was the Breeder's price for a Yorkshire Terrier puppy. Next...before you rush out to find another puppy, a Yorkshire Terrier...might I suggest you take your time getting to know the puppy you already have now. Your puppy needs your undivided attention right now. Best of luck to you! ![]()

| ![]() It is good to know you paid $400..not making light of $400...but that is a small amount compared to the amount some buyers are ripped off for.... The law is very fair about animals...the court will not make you return your puppy...it will give you that choice OR the cost difference ...but since you paid $400 I doubt much would be returned to you...even mixes can run that much from rescues and pet breeders... I would send the breeder copiers of the DNA..in the future she can never said she does not know the facts..plus I would send the info to CKC...they are not like AKC who would rescend AKC papers, but you never know what might happen.. Otherwise, I would enjoy my pet and she will be well worth $400 in happiness she brings over her life time with you... |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | ![]() Oh and one more thing as the dog was born Nov 17th and you said you got her at Christmas she wasn't even 6wks old when she was released. Way way too young to be let go from her Mama. For Yorkshire Terriers and other small breed dogs 12 wks is recommended and weighing three pounds.
