YT Addict | Nolen's Yorkies, Puppy Health Question Hi, so I've been hearing a lot about Helen's puppies being sick, including my furbaby Pancho's brother Poppy who died suddenly of a seizure. I'm wondering if Panchos sister ( he was born in March of 2007, his parents are Carly and Eli) is sick also. So far Pancho is in great health, no problems at all and I take him to vet every few months for checkups. He had a small little something when i 1st got him but they gave him antibiotics and he was fine. I just wanted to know if anyone else was having problems with their puppies from Nolens that are related to Pancho and what you guys think I should do if anything! Thanks <3

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Is that Helen Nolan who use to be a featured breeder here? Did they find out what caused the seizure that killed Poppy? Do you know the owner, I guess I would really want to know about the specifics so I could take some type of preventative steps if possible. I always recommend people take their dog for a yearly check-up, you're the first that I've read who goes every few months. I do want to reassure you that just because some dogs are sick, it doesn't mean all of her dogs will be sick, but it's always a scary thing.

YT Addict | I did speak with Poppy's owner she said she came home and found he had passed after having a seizure but says she doesn't know what caused it. She also said owners of dogs which are Pancho's siblings were sick or had passed due to kidney problems, so I don't know what to make of it. Pancho has been screened for just about everything, but I dont know if there is something specific I should be doing or if there are signs dogs show when they have kidney problems.

If you have already had your pup screened for everything then this would have been one of the tests included in most blood work....I hope your pup is well and remains so....

| If your pup has had blood work done and it has all been normal, then he probably is healthy. Routine blood work includes kidney values. If these values are off, then more detailed blood work and other diagnostic tools can be done. If Pancho has not had blood work, I would ask your vet to do it. I believe all dogs should have blood work done annually, and if they are older, more often. For example, my Teddy has had blood work done three times in the two years he's been alive. Barney and Teddy who are 10 years old have blood work done more often, usually every 6-9 months. That's the only way you can really figure out if something changes. Kidneys are especially hard because the values may only be "off" when things are further along in an illness. So good preventative vet care is the best you can do for your pup.

YT Addict | I believe the owner said there weren't any signs but I can't be sure. That's funny Pancho's bday is the 3/29 He is healthy too, I wish I could find the owner of the third puppy in his litter to see if shes ok.

| My mom and I both have puppies from Nolen's Yorkies. Mine just turned six. My mom's was a Christmas present to her in 2007. So, I guess he was born after this litter that you're trying to find. Both are healthy and spoiled! I actually was just trying to go to nolensyorkies.com last night to see if there were puppies up and couldn't find the website and found this forum. |
