If your pup has had blood work done and it has all been normal, then he probably is healthy. Routine blood work includes kidney values. If these values are off, then more detailed blood work and other diagnostic tools can be done. If Pancho has not had blood work, I would ask your vet to do it. I believe all dogs should have blood work done annually, and if they are older, more often. For example, my Teddy has had blood work done three times in the two years he's been alive. Barney and Teddy who are 10 years old have blood work done more often, usually every 6-9 months. That's the only way you can really figure out if something changes. Kidneys are especially hard because the values may only be "off" when things are further along in an illness. So good preventative vet care is the best you can do for your pup.
