This Is terrible. The woman I got Gatsby from(who was a hobby breeder)Called me when his sire died of kidney failure she told me she would take Gatsby back if he was sick. She paid for the testing to make sure he was not sick. She begged me not to hand him over to a shelter or a rescue group.(not that that was on my mind in the slightest) She was adamant that If for what ever reason i could not keep him to give her a call.
Then we found out his sire died from being poisoned by a leaf someone brought in on thear shoe

So sorry to hear about Gatsby's dad, and I'm glad it wasn't a hereditary problem after all. I've got to say that I admire Gatsby's breeder, she really is trying to stand behind her dogs. I wonder how many breeders would even bother to tell the pet owner?

One of the strange things hear is she really is just a hobby breeder she had one girl and one boy and they had one litter a year. You always hear to stay away from breeders like her who breed for the fun of it but Gatsby is in standard for the breed(or so I was told by a lady who shows yorkies in our area) and he is healthy as can be. If it was possible I would go back to her and recommend all my friends. But when trooper died(Gatsby's sire) she took it as a sign and had her female and the one little boy she kept fixed and they live happily as full time pets.

Everyone uses the term hobby breeder differently, and as far as I'm concerned, we don't make money from our hobbies, we do it because we love the hobby and it gives us enjoyment. This should be the only reason for breeding in my opinion, and never to make a profit. Your breeder shows this when she stood behind her dogs.

Poor pup. It is hard to trust people. I hope that OP will be able to locate the new family and make sure the pup is fixed & is in a good home. Best luck to OP and the pup & I hope OP will keep us posted on the pup and the new family.
A poster mentioned about the names to watch out is actually great idea. It would help breeders to watch out for these kind of people.
