dissappointing call.. i had a call today from someone who purchased a pup from me a year ago..a pup that i really adored ..anywho i really liked this person, the family. we talked for hours, we discussed plans and emergency savings and pet insurance the whole 9 yards. i located a vet for the family in their area, i gave numbers to the insurances, we discussed in detail everything that i could think of and i answered all their questions.. and i always request that if something happens..bring them back..i will rehome them...its actually in the purchase agreement the pick up went very smooth..i was phoned often on the pups progression, training and vet care, etc..alot, actually from the entire family out of the blue i get a call that the pup was rehomed to a family friend because money got tight and they could not purchase food or last shots.. i dont want to sound hateful i really dont.. but 1st: the pups last shots should have been completed months ago 2nd: i know there is a big thing about feeding the very best but if times are hard pick up a cheap bag to get you through..for a small dog it will last a long time....i actually have a my male on Puppy chow ($5.99) because its the only thing that wont upset his stomach..my vet said to keep him on it if he is having no trouble keeping it down..we've tried high and mid quality foods for him with out sucess..so that should be affordable if nothing else anyways back to the story heres the kicker... the family wanted to know if i had any upcoming litters or available pups?..my question is why? well we would like to try again with a better knowledge of preparing for everything.. ok you would rather spend another 800+ for a pup when you could not purchase a bag of food..?? im stumped..i didnt say that i didnt want to be rude or hateful but ..really? i was so at a loss for words..i just said no..i have nothing coming..even if i had i would have just said no.. i guess my main problem is, im not angry like i thought i was im disappointed. i cant understand not having the funds to care for a already paid for pet thats in your home but having the availability/funds to purchase another one.. the talk of limited funds made me wonder if the dog was sold for extra money instead..but thats just speculation i know times are hard..my husband has been out of work since Oct...me since the year before..but we find ways to manage and care for our pets and children..i mean right after my husband lost his job bella need a pin inserted in her leg and thank fully i have a vet who truly cares and works with his patients and their owners.. i should have been more upfront about my feelings to the family..and given them food for thought...maybe they would think about it harder before purchasing again...wish i had said more..i would have rehomed the pup myself so that i could have interviewed new homes.. i guess whats done is done...and i know i will not offer another pup to them in in the future... i understand wanting a pet..i have 4 and love them all but im confused on what really happened here..and would be concerned about placing another dog with the family at this time. how is the next time going to be different? im no innocent i have rehomed homed pets...when trying to organize a breeding a program i have had males who were way to large i re homed them..but "I" rehomed them and knew where they were going ok..sorry for the long vent.. |
Ok!!! REALLY???!?!?!?! That was the excuse they gave you.. I mean I dont know them BUT what are they thinking? yeah. let's just get rid of a family member and start over with a new...sheeesshhh... Ok im sorry,I stop having my little freak out... My heart goes out to you. Good for you for saying "No" They should have at least given the pup back to you as stated in the paper work.. Im very sorry that this has happened:thumbdown |

thanks..i had my little rant at home too!! i called mom and the sister in law;) |
Wow....not having the money for food....but now they want another pup. I would be hurt and angry as well. Why would they not come back to you with the pup? I would definitely NOT allow them to have any of your pups ever again. Who knows what they will do with another one? |

I'm sorry they did this to you. HOpefully, he is in a better home. NO, I would never sell them another one if my pups if I were you either! |
I would be angry too! You can't trust people these days!! I also suspect that they sold the dog for a higher price...You did the right thing by saying no! Their excuse was lame though. I just hope the pup will be neutered/spayed and be loved as it deserves! |
Grrrr, what is wrong with people, why wouldn't they just give you back the pup....smh...geez, and I also beleive they sold the pup for money at that time. I don't get it, I may not have money for '''ME''' to eat, but you can bet your bottom dollar my Gizmo will eat before I do. Thats just the way it is |

I agree, It was in my contract for my two as well. My two are never going anywhere....unless I die. If I were a breeder, I would never do business with them again. You can tell that they think pets are expendable. Let them find another breeder or suggest a rescue. Rescues are very very strict. Most of us can't even qualify for one....lol When a rescue finds out about their last puppy...they'll for sure say "no". |

but going from home to home to home..i worry about the pup for that reason...i would have hoped they would have contacted me when things werent working out and let me handle it as requested... im not one to sue but i had hoped the contract would have been enough and after all the time we spoke i would have thought they would have contacted me first .. |
That's terrible. You know what, I'm a 'poor' college student who manages to feed my dog high-end dog food, and give him the best care possible, and I think they had a LOUSY excuse. And to want another pup?! Why on earth do people think pets are disposable? I can't even in a million years imagine just giving Jackson to someone else, and then replacing him with another dog. |
