| A pure and true silk coated yorkie will not have curl or a wave to their coat. My Radar, my Tucker who are champions and then I have Krissy all have "straight" hair no wave or curl. Harvey probably has a modified silk and may have a wave to it but no curls. Then I have brookie and Murphy who are cotton coated and of course they have curls to their coats. When you have a pure and true silk coat you will not have wave or curl to it. I would welcome anyone at a show to see Radar after his blow dry with no iron to it. I will be in NY in Feb and I have no issue with anyone watching me bathe and groom him |

Taken from this source: http://www.kwikwap.co.za/mjy/docs/TH...IER%20COAT.pdf The quality of the silken coat varies, especially in different bloodlines. Some have the thick silk, others a thin sparse coat that does not thicken up until the dog is about 2 years old, and yet others have a wiry, hard coat that does eventually develop into a thick, silken steel blue. From my understanding, a hard silk coat is very strong, and doesn't break easily at all; thinner/finer hair is stronger than coarser hair.

| Jeanie, I'm not sure you ever got your question answered about the color on the topline of your Parti. I found the wavy coat thread interesting and educating but wondered if anyone had emailed you or PM'd you about the color? I would love to know Teresa |

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...weet-izzy.html So I can say, from first-hand experience with Izzy....a curly coat can have a silky texture. Last edited by TammyJM; 01-02-2011 at 12:58 PM.

| I know what a modified silk coat feels like because I have 2 of them (and even had a groomer explain this type of coat to me). I also know what a silk coat feels like because I have 2 of them as well. Izzy's (curly) coat is silky, not modified. |

![]() I'm not trying to argue with anyone in this thread, but I can honestly say that Iz has a silky coat.

I don't want to argue either BUT a "pure" silk coat will "not" have curls or waves that's fact. I'm sure she's silky as is my harvey but not a pure true silk as it's not straight. And Harvey is of my breeding and I know the difference

Okay. You are stating this as a fact so you must know this from some sort of a genetics stand-point or are you saying this based on your personal experience?
