| Maybe getting his butt shaved made it feel funny or itchy. Most dogs do not need their anal glands expressed. If their stool is firm, it does it automatically. |

| I agree, it could be the feeling of the shorter hair or having the glands done and how hard they had to do it. I would just keep an eye on it, it shoudl get better.

| Not saying your dog has worms but when we first got Silver she did that all the time, turned out she had worms and they were irritating her.

| Did he have his anal glads cleaned? usually dogs that scoot their bottom it's because they need their anal glads cleaned, but maybe it's his reaction to getting them cleaned? You should routinely deworm if you don't give a heart worm med that also protects against other worms...keep checking for any rash that may appear, the itchy was funny, but there could have been some kind of irritation that is causing "itchy butt" but it could also get serious. Hope it all works out okay! |

Jackson will always come in and wipe his butt on the carpet after being groomed! Lol. I think he's just itchy.

| Maggie and Molly will do the same, when I get them home from the groomer. After they drag a bit, then it's all over until time to go back to the beauty shop.

JMO but I think deworming is done much too casually. It should never be done unless it is needed. | |

| so how many times should a puppy be dewormed?? i know breeders usually do it at 8 weeks, are we supposed to do it again at 12 weeks or so? because i remember when i first got snickers, i dewormed him when he got his boosters. |

| You should get a worm stool sample test at least once a year...if your neighbor has dogs, if you walk your dog, if a friend came over after they walked where a dog walked within a six months...you are exposed to worms...especially if your dog goes to doggy day care, a groomers or the dog park too. I give a heart worm med that protects against the three types of intestinal worms also plus I use apple cider vinegar on my dogs regularly...but I still have them worm tested once a year-don't over treat just test. Any responsible vet won't give you a de-worming prescription without the test and why get the prescription if you don't need it.. I spared talking about how worms are past-you have to look that up yourself-of you are like me you will immediately want to shower and scrub...and suddenly become the rude lady handing out doggy pooh bags to all the people whom don't pick up their pooh-NASTY! I only dealt with worms when Elvis arrived with them to me at 2 years old. |
