Scooting butt So I took snickers to the groomers today and had the full groom done, he even has had his anal glands expressed..but he is scooting his butt on the ground still... maybe he still has some in there? not sure.. does anyone know more about this? |
Maybe getting his butt shaved made it feel funny or itchy. Most dogs do not need their anal glands expressed. If their stool is firm, it does it automatically. |
I agree, it could be the feeling of the shorter hair or having the glands done and how hard they had to do it. I would just keep an eye on it, it shoudl get better. |
:) I think he's itchy :) |
hahah that is what i figured, just havent seen him do that in awhile. its so funny! yet gross at the same time..!! |
Not saying your dog has worms but when we first got Silver she did that all the time, turned out she had worms and they were irritating her. |
yeah thats what i also found on google, but he just got groomed..and he didnt do it before. im getting him dewormed soon anyway..!!! so if he does have worms..they're gonna be gone! |
Did he have his anal glads cleaned? usually dogs that scoot their bottom it's because they need their anal glads cleaned, but maybe it's his reaction to getting them cleaned? You should routinely deworm if you don't give a heart worm med that also protects against other worms...keep checking for any rash that may appear, the itchy was funny, but there could have been some kind of irritation that is causing "itchy butt" but it could also get serious. Hope it all works out okay! |

Jackson will always come in and wipe his butt on the carpet after being groomed! Lol. I think he's just itchy. |
Maggie and Molly will do the same, when I get them home from the groomer. After they drag a bit, then it's all over until time to go back to the beauty shop. |

JMO but I think deworming is done much too casually. It should never be done unless it is needed. |

hmm thats strange, last year when i went to the vet, the vet tech recommended that i should get snickers dewormed at least once a year, is that right? |
and he does have heartworm medicine, but the area we live in doesnt have a high risk of worms, even the vet told me i didnt need the heartworm medicine, but i bought it anyway..haha.. yeah i think he may have just been itchy .. hes not doing it anymore. |
so how many times should a puppy be dewormed?? i know breeders usually do it at 8 weeks, are we supposed to do it again at 12 weeks or so? because i remember when i first got snickers, i dewormed him when he got his boosters. |
