Did he have his anal glads cleaned? usually dogs that scoot their bottom it's because they need their anal glads cleaned, but maybe it's his reaction to getting them cleaned? You should routinely deworm if you don't give a heart worm med that also protects against other worms...keep checking for any rash that may appear, the itchy was funny, but there could have been some kind of irritation that is causing "itchy butt" but it could also get serious.
