I would not deworm a puppy that doesn't have worms. Have his stool tested first. Deworming medicine is poison and although it is not enough to kill the dog, it is very hard on them and stresses their system, which in turn can cause other issues.
JMO but I think deworming is done much too casually. It should never be done unless it is needed.
