| ![]() I would never ship another puppy. I had one shipped in July from Oklahoma (obviously a puppy mill to me now, but at the time I wasn't aware of this) and she died within 3 days of arriving and me spending over 1,000 on vet bills trying to save her. Now my situation is drastic and I didn't do my research so I urge you to research this breeder thoroughly. Mind you I live in Arizona and our Summers are like 120 degrees so I should have been suspicious about them shipping in that extreme weather - as you should be with this breeder. When I got my Shorkie I was in the same situation in that a breeder I wanted was in Canada but I did not want to ship it. I ended up paying three times as much as I would have to the Canadian breeder by opting to go to a local breeder bc I got to know her, see her house and to me the reassurance of truly knowing where my puppy came from was worth paying triple than going through the trauma again of getting a sick puppy. You can't put a price on a puppy and you might just have to spend more than you want to get a healthy puppy that's near you. |

| ![]() I had one shipped too. I was told he was bathed and groomed right before being shipped, but he arrived stinky and covered in fleas. You never know in what state the other dogs are in, or even if the airline people pile crates one on top of another. Kaji could very well have been peed on by another dog. I just don't know. All I know is the second thing we did when we got home was give him a bath. He reeked!

| ![]() Please check to see if there are any Yorkie Rescue groups in your area. Look at adopting a yorkie. It will save you a lot of money and you will have saved a friend for life. I have 6 times (yorkies) and a 7th shep/border mix.

| ![]() Find one locally even if you have to wait awhile. As a breeder myself, I would never entertain the idea of shipping. Ineed to meet and approve anyone who wants apuppy from me. Wait longer and save your money to buy one from someone reputable. If you think the purchase prices are high, wait until you deal with your first Vet bill. |

| ![]() See if Clover Hill has any puppies, Her dogs are so sweet, she is in MA and she just may have a wonderful little baby for you. She is a breeder on here and my female Sadie came from her. I would not have a puppy shipped... I cant imagine putting a baby pup in a cage on a plane and traumatizing it like that....

| ![]() I can't say anything about this breeder but remember it is always BUYER BEWARE! I had a bad experience and a good experience getting two of my dog's shipped. I can say this WATCH THE WINTER RESTRICTIONS. I had to wait two months for one of my dogs and 5 weeks for the other for the flights to lift the cargo restrictions-and I had to switch airlines after finding out one airline actually loaded animals outdoors-how rude is that,I made sure I used airlines that had temperature controlled cargo areas with an attendant present and an indoor loading area along with a kennel service. Being from California it seemed no big deal to have a pup shipped in December...ha ha ha both my dogs were coming from the East Coast! it was a major deal! I actually paid twice the normal pet shipping to have my dogs put on the shortest possible flights that only had one layover and had to pay an airport contracting kennel to take my dogs out, potty them, walk them, feed them, clean their kennels and then stick them back on the plane after making sure they were safe and comfortable (it was a couple hundred more for the kennel service)...that was worth it since I couldn't find anyone to fly with them, my dogs actually ended up on the same flight from Texas to California and were taken care of by the kennel attendant together so they met before I met them. I'm not sure I'd get another dog without actually getting them myself, but I'm so pleased and highly recommend one of the kennels, even though it is a few thousand miles form me. Additionally, those breeders who mention major lines usually have gotten the line via the back door. Again, just a marketing ploy.

I loved the comparison Lizzy made saying you pay $1500 or more for a laptop, flat screen or jewelry -- why not a loyal companion? You can buy an economy dog if you want .... but keep in mind that will also mean the breeder did not put much into the dog. A quality breeder has a lot more than $600 a pup invested before you buy them. I am not saying there aren't wonderful pets created from bargain dogs -- there are! Even rescues can wind up being amazing family additions. But -- if you buy -- buy the breeder first to save the heartache and encourage good breeding, not greeding.

There are some breeders that obtain their bloodlines via the backdoor. Meaning they didn't go to the breeder of those bloodlines. Once they obtain those lines they capitilize on the phrase such as; so and so bloodlines, championed grand sired, champion sired. People don't realize that those Champions are not owned by the breeder or Championed by that breeder, just using it as advertising ploy.....And people fall for it.

Unless someone knows a breeder personally or have personally visited their breeding facilities no one should comment negatively about how someone "markets" their dogs -- all methods are forms of marketing, even "word of mouth" ... a breeder manages to convince someone their pups are the best (be they the best or not) and that person "spreads the word" --- that's marketing. To say "breeders who mention major lines usually have gotten the line via the backdoor" is one of the most inaccurate generalization I've ever heard, especially making statements like that worded "as a fact" is wrong and misleading to people out there trying to purchase a puppy, not to mention the only thing that should be said is for the person to thoroughly check out the breeder, puppy, & facilities; the method of marketing is the least of their concerns. (again one would have to have first hand, personal knowledge about a breeder and their dogs before saying such generalizations as without that first hand knowledge its just an assumption which is not worth much) I, for one, as a buyer, would want to know the lines, as there are lines I'd like to avoid. But all that is my opinion but I don't know too many people who would believe a statement without the person making the statement being able to also state they know the information to be accurate about this one particular case (breeder) because they've have personal contact with that person. I believe its important to stick to the facts as every breeder here is just one person's assumption away from being spoken negatively about. It's a line that should be treaded carefully. ~Kendra | |

In reading the post that is being addressed by you, YT members/breeders were not even mentioned or brought into the conversation. What was said that there are those website that advertise using name dropping of pedigrees. Dogs that were not Championed by said website owner or obtained from the breeder of those pedigrees. I see it everyday. They are known as pedigree hunters, only using the dogs for breeding to fulfill a pet buyers market.
