Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | www.millbusters.com is a FORUM that has advise for you.... but for you to report a Mill - PLEASE write AND CALL your local ASPCA ... the Humane Society...actually - ANY Agency you have in your town for the Prevention of Cruelity to Animals - You also could call the local cops - they can direct you to the best place to contact and GOOD LUCK ... I can't stress that it only takes ONE PERSON to get the ball rolling and you never know the power you have in reporting these awful mills - It's WELL WORTH THE TIME it takes and EVERYONE should report a suspected mill if you see one !! Good for you !! |

| So glad to hear you are stepping up, the mills won't stop if people don't report them. Way to go PrairieGirl!

| I am really torn up about this. I know the woman fairly well. I classified her as a backyard breeder and maybe I am wrong about it qualifying as a mill. Help me decide before I make BIG waves. She's about 70 and raises dogs to supplement her income. She has about 15 or 20 give or take. They are mostly in her garage. She recently moved into an area where she's only allowed 3 dogs. She built a tall privacy fence and then a smaller pen inside. They have a doggie door - but most can't use it because they are in cages. I didn't like the setup at all and encouraged her to give them more freedom. But, she told me the other day her Pom and 4 new babies were being kept in a cage ALL THE TIME. Mom just gets time out to potty. The babies are 6 WEEKS OLD! We talked about one of the yorkies not meeting standards and she said, "I don't care about standards. If a buyer doesn't want them they don't have to buy them." Am I overreacting? I thought perhaps I could just call the city and report too many dogs. Maybe they would thin them out. If she just had 3, I think she'd do pretty good with them.

| Sorry to tell you that but this woman is obviously not able to take care of them. Something must be done for these little caged little ones . Maybe , I sound rude but in my opinion this is not the proper way to have Yorkies . |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | This sounds really sad - living in her garage ? I have a feeling that is a health violation but really don't know for sure - What about calling your local ASPCA and talking to them to see how they can help these dogs ? It doesn't sound like a mill.... but a more a problem of her not caring for them properly. Many times the law is on the owners side.... unfortunately it's just not always geared to the dogs happiness and welfare.... but the ASPCA can point you in a good direction...There is alot they can do without actually seizing the dogs. Sometimes they can just give warnings and the owners will clean up their act. She sure doesn't sound like she cares too much about her dogs at all. |

| also contact your local county humane society. they have all the pull and the info on mills. also, contact www.ytnr.com i am a member and foster mom and they really get the job done. lots of great people. also if the mill you have encounterd is really bad then contact your local authorities to get faster results. ytnr is not afraid to raid a mill. it has and can be done. just pm me if you want more info..... |

| Thanks guys. I wrote an anonymous email to city code enforcement reporting the number of dogs. I will wait a few days and see if anything happens. And Yorkiemom I will check out your link. Thanks a bunch. I am just really bummed out about the treatment they are getting. If she just kept a few females and used someone else's males, I think she could manage fairly well. But, she has several she calls non-producers and several too small or old, and a couple of poms and a pair of chins. She could get rid of all of those and she'd be down to 6 or so. Anyway, we'll see if the city will thin them out. Where we go from there ??? Guess I'll play it be ear. But, thanks for letting me know I am not overreacting. I tend to do that.

| Hope something can be done it is hard when you know the person. It hard when they see it as only a business and even harder to watch the dogs go through this. Sometimes in the end all you can do is walk the other way and hope that one day some day soon they will see the light and change their ways. Best of luck. Joy |
