| Im sure you do but she is young and when they are young they are easily distracted. Its going to take time for her to respond to the commands with distractions. I think adult dogs are better with that than pups

YT Addict | i know she is a puppy, and i know dogs in general have short attention spans. i don't expect too much from her, especially since she is a puppy. i just wanted a little advice on things i could do to keep her from doing that so i could start practicing it now. |

| I know what Im trying to tell you is your expecting too much from a puppy. I have had 2 and taught commands to them both but neither would do them with distractions when they were a pup. That is something they get as adults

| I get what you are saying. I'm not an expert but, just keep her on the leash and when outside stop her with the commands when around other people. It may take a few time before she gets it. I know when Pixie was that age she also was all over the place wenting to see everything and anyone. Just keep it in her routine and she'll it get. It did help taking her to puppy classes. But, that wasn't until she was about 6 months old. It will come. Just be patient and you'll be fine. Oh by the way Hazel is looking go cute!!

I know, right. I had to look twice at that response. LMBO. Back on topic....I have a 2 yr old yorkie and he still acts 'crazy' when he sees others, although he's not as hyper as he used to be... and he's had obedience training. Hazel will get it in due time. What about dog training in your home? That's what I did. | |

As for the petsmart classes- I've had really good experiences with them. But like everything else, it depends on the individual trainer. I watched a couple of different classes until I found one I was comfortable with. Plus I took a weekday morning class because it was less crowded (both the class and the store).
