There are alot of breeders on here that are just here to sell puppies. What she did is against the rules and Im reporting her. If she has puppies she should be listing them in the for sale forum and following those rules

As for the petsmart classes- I've had really good experiences with them. But like everything else, it depends on the individual trainer. I watched a couple of different classes until I found one I was comfortable with. Plus I took a weekday morning class because it was less crowded (both the class and the store).

advice!!! thank you! the clicker as mentioned before and a toy as you mentioned may work! i will try it most definitely. the toy first, and if that doesn't work i'll move on to the clicker. well where i live it seems as thought no one ever has anything nice to say about our local petsmart. lol. maybe its just our store then.

Yes they will remove it because the only place your supposed to sell puppies is in the for sale forum

Hi again!

If your vet gave you the OK to start walking Hazel outside weeks ago, and she's only 13 weeks old now, I think I would look for a new vet. Not all vets are familiar or up to date on toy breeds.

Puppies should NOT be going on walks outside until 10 days after their final set of shots.

Your yard is only safe if no other dogs, cats or birds have access to it. That's why most people just keep their pups in until they're a bit older. They can catch so many things while out walking. They can sniff it or walk in it and you won't even know it.

Practicing all day might be boring her - try to limit how much time you spend training add in some playtime - it still trains them.

I think everyone has already tried to tell you that the best tip they can give you is patience. Be consistand and patient.

Your pup is very young - anything she learns is a plus. You are expecting too much if you think she's not going to get distracted. Please remember that she is a terrier - and that some have even a less attention span than other breeds. They are all about the chase/moving objects.

I know you love Hazel, that you're excited about training her, and only want to protect her but please remember that she is only a baby and that it will all take time.

no other dogs, yes, birds.. no. i actually love my vet! i over exaggerated when i said ALL day long. lol. trust me, she gets in ample play time with my family when shes not sleeping. i never ever said i expected anything much from hazel. i just wanted advice as to how to get her attention back when she was running away, 2 members gave me advice on that. and thank you very much =]

when you use the clicker, you basically say a command and when Hazel does it right, you click and then treat. I just did a 10 min session with Paris and after a few clicks, she realized that a treat comes afterwards. We worked on sit and she sat before I even told her to and then looked at the clicker as if to say, can you click, please so i can get that treat. Also, my trainer advised to do 10-15 min sessions 3 times a day for a week on one command. But if she catches on before that one week, then move to another command or trick. Good luck to you!

I clicked on the link in her message, and there are no puppies for sale. It is an article about Maltese. There are pictures, under one it does say "adopt dogs" or something, but it isn't clickable.

Another thing with the clicker is something called "loading". Basically, you click and treat over and over so she associates the sound of the click with something tasty. They catch on really fast In addition to training, I found that just by clicking, I can get the dogs to run to me no matter where I am in the house.

yes! My little Mason runs from wherever he is when i click. i've been teaching the come command, so i click and say the command as he's coming. Come command has been the hardest for me to teach. thank goddness for the clicker. it's a great tool.

yes, that's correct, but Mason just wasn't understanding the COME command by just saying it, so as he's walking towards me, I say the command so he will know that it means to come to me. Otherwise, I really didn't know any other way to teach him. My trainer tried forever and he just didn't get it. She tried almost everything and he would just look at her. She's coming next week to my home to begin training Paris. Can't wait. I think Paris catches on quicker than Mason.

also, when i take them out to potty, i say potty as they are doing it. Mason now pottys on command.
