| Welcome to YT. Look up at the top of this page. There is a "sticky" about coats and sizes.

| Congrats on your new addition, and welcome to YT! Welcome to YT and congrats on your new baby! I'm sure that you are smitten by her, just as the rest of us are by ours . Her ears will begin to stand up a little later; from experience, I'd say between 10-12 weeks. With Khloe's, one popped up one day, and a few days later, the other one popped up. And as far as her size, she will most likely stay small if her Mom and Dad are small. I tried to find a good chart for you to go by; you may have to convert it, but it will give you a good idea of how big your Furbaby will be. So you just have to wait and see until she is all grown up. The chart is not a good estimate as to adult weight - since it has been wrong quite often. As Mary stated weight is dertermined by her ancestors/lineage. You would have to know weight of her aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.. to get a better estimate. This is a perfect example that you cannot determine a puppy's weight based on parents weight. Last edited by topknot; 08-22-2010 at 05:43 AM. | |

| At 8 weeks old, my Daisy was 2.2 lbs - She is 7.8 lbs as an adult. Barney was 2.6 lbs at 8 weeks old and he weighs 9.5 lbs as an adult. Teddy was 3 lbs at 10 weeks old and he is 7.5 lbs as an adult. I like them big.

| Me too! Even big Yorkies seem so small to me. This is my first Yorkie, so as long as my vet keeps telling me that she is healthy, I'm okay with the weight that she will be.

1.5 kg = approimately 3 pounds. The rule of thumb is to tripple their 8 week weight. That would mean she will be 8 to 9 pounds or 4.5 kg. You might need to tape her ears to get them to stand. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures her. | |

| Welcome to YT! Congrats on your new baby. There are some very informative "stickies" around here. Since your baby is so young, it would be in your best interest to read all you can. About the size, as everyone else mentioned it's really a guessing game. I like to look at the yorkie growth chart, but I realize it's not always accurate. I am just finding it fun to watch as my Lulu grows. Also, I thought you might like to know that there is no such thing as a miniature or teacup...it's all just a marketing ploy to make more money. A yorkie is a yorkie no matter how big or small. Enjoy your new little one!

| I don't know if there's any way of knowing when or if their ears will stand up. Zoe is over 5 months and her ears still don't stand and we've been taping them up. Vet said not all Yorkie's ear stand. Also Zoe's mom and dad were 6 lb and 8 lbs. She is 5 lbs at 5 months so I think she will be larger too. We'd like to see pics when you can. And welcome.

The chart is an estimate, you cant tell just by the parents weight... you would have to research their lines.
