| There is no dog worth 8500 dollars...champion bloodlines and all!! What a shame there are people breeding such little ones with only the dollar in mind. Just unbelievable if someone would buy these pups...I would be scared to death of health problems. I doubt there is any health checkups..liver shunt, LP and what ever else that can be determined. I feel so bad for these pups. |

| Maybe $8500. is worth it for a VERY good dog? I don't breed so some one like manolos mom could answer that not me. But as long as people will pay for a tiny dog the price will stay up. I have had a lot of people say to me when I'm walking my crew "Oh I have a yorkie too, but mine is a teacup" I now say "I don't like tea I like coffee"

We know a GOOD breeder wouldn't do this, but unfortunately there appears to be a lot more bad ones than good out there. There's always someone ready to take your money if you are dumb enough to hand it over.

| Those pups don't look right. Apple heads, bulging eyes, and brachiocephalic. If you like the apple head look, get a chi, they are supposed to be that way. Yorkies aren't. If you like bulging eyes and brachiocephalic, get a shih tzu or a pekingese, they are supposed to be that way. Yorkies aren't. Breeding for this look on purpose in a Yorkie is going to damage the breed, we'll end up with dogs with breathing problems just to get a "baby doll face."

| I love that line. I ran into a Yorkie owner at the Petco near my home. She had this very tiny little girl. She said that she had another one that was almost the record for the smallest Yorkie but that it had passed over Rainbow Bridge. Everyday before she went to work she took it to the breeders to stay and then picked it up that evening after work. She had to do that because of Hypoglycemia. It had to eat several times a day. The puppy ended up dying as a result of complications with Hypoglycemia due to a mistake the breeders family made and missed a feeding. I do not think I could own a dog that small. I would be a nervous wreck every day! My 2 are suppose to end up somewhere in the 6-7 lb range and I can't wait. They are both around 3 1/2 right now.

People like her will end up ruining the breed and yorkies will just not look like yorkies anymore.

$8,500 is outrages; even for a show dog, from well known reputable exhibitor/breeders. Yes, there are uneducated people that will pay that price. However, in todays economy, I'm not so sure. Because of the economy, reputable breeders have even cut back their breeding, even though in the past they only bred 1 or 2 litters a year.

| I agree completely. A society that fails to do their research will fail to see that they are getting hustled if the price is based on the dog's size. All sizes of Yorkies are adorable; I'm a fan of small Yorkies, big Yorkies, and everything in between. However, the only thing different about a tiny "Teacup" Yorkie is they were born the smallest of the litter. A reputable breeder would not breed smaller intentionally, and would look for a good home for the runt, or keep it themselves, not distinguish it under false pretenses and use the pup for monetary purposes. With this said, I'm not saying that every small Yorkie is sick and can not thrive. IMO, they would be at more of a risk for illnesses or accidents, and would require major attention. I relate animals to babies, and I think of a tiny Yorkie as a preemie.
