| ![]() I don't know why everyone seems so surprised. People are looking for the smallest dog they can get. And yes, small does mean expensive. Whoever is specifically looking for a tiny knows that the cost will be not that of the standard yorkie and those people have money. And come on......... how many of you looked at Starlight's website and said "OMG - how adorable"? |

People who have taken the time to research the breed will not be looking for the smallest yorkie they can get because they know the risks. Dogs which are bred to be smaller and smaller are usually unhealthy, they usually cost a bomb in vet fees and usually dont live as long. Any GOOD breeder would not sell a tiny at these prices, they would be given to people who know how to deal with under sized dogs and know how to deal with any health problems they might face. Breeding any dog under 5lbs is cruel, the dog will struggle to carry these pups and the dog itself AND the pups could well die. Now you tell me what is good about that? And no I dont look at the website and think "OMG - how adorable" I look at the website and think "how sad that greedy people will put these poor animals through hell all for the sake of money"

| ![]() How on earth do these people think they are selling PETS for over $8000? seriously. Ok maybe some huge bloodline best in the world Yorkie pup for breeding, but really? I know my breeder paid almost 2/3 of that for an already championed girl who was ready to breed. A pet for $8500 or $9000, I wouldn't even pay that for a pet horse (ok maybe a show horse), PETS? I don't understand?

| ![]() LOL. All of the comments make me laugh, yet the issue is so not funny. I'm glad I am not the only one thinking this is totally bogus. I thought a lot of people may have paid this for breeding puppies but I'm happy to know that's not the case. I mean I still just can't get over the price. |

| ![]() Shipping. Tiny. It doesn't sound good. I could understand that there is a small market out there for 'the almost perfect Yorkie', and that a reputable breeder can spend 30-35 years just trying to achieve that if they are truly breeding to improve. However, the AKC standard for a good representation for a Yorkie never said tiny. Anything under 7 lbs., and most show dogs are between 4 and 5 lbs. Most reputable breeders would take a tiny puppy and find it a good home or keep it themselves to ensure it was well taken care of. And most reputable breeders put so much money into their dogs since they are passionate about improving the breed that they don't even make a profit; most end up spending more than what they make IMO.

| ![]() Come on people. We are not talking about reputable breeders - breeding for the betterment of the breed. They are not! They are a business - period. They sell for these astronomical prices because - Yes - there is a demand for it. People don't do research. They just want a tiny, tiny cute puppy, and are willing to pay anything for what they want. They want a Masarati and not a Hyundai. They don't research the performance of the car - they just know - its cute and expensive and I want it. Whether you disagree or not makes no difference. The facts are that there are people out there and there are breeders (if that is what you want to call them) that breed for this very specific purpose - TINY. Sad..... but true. If you disagree that there is a demand for this - then you are very naive. |
