| Radio station promoting Petland petstore in BC JRfm FUNFINDER JRFM radio station had Petland on their FunFinder list of places they will be to attract the public to these stores or events on their list. Phone, email, write JR Fm in protest of including Petland. This starts today and another day is scheduled as well. We may not be able to do anything to stop today except hopefully protesters will turn up to educate the radio station. But they are scheduled for another day. The more people that protest this to the radio station the more it might get their attention. This will only promote these awful pet stores such as Petland selling dogs and puppies from their store allegedly coming from caring and professional hobby breeders that sell to them (per their claim on Petland site)who in turn sell to an unwary public. Phone, email, write JR Fm in protest of including Petland. Permiss to crosspost where you like. There is a contact tab on their website where you can email them the reality of a reputable breeder compared to this awful pet store that sells puppies. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Great - just great Since radio stations will take money from anyone - it's too bad there isn't a spot AGAINST PetHell since it's a known fact that they are puppy mills biggest customers - That radio station obviously cares about their revenue more than what they're advertising for - what a shame - PetlHELL needs NO publicity except to warn people not to ever buy from them. It's all over the net how terrible they are and how many sick dogs they sell at totally inflated prices. They're picketed all the time - multiple sites are dedicated to shutting them down yet someone thinks it's ok to PROMOTE them ? It makes me sick ! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ps - I have a small pet boutique that does occasionally have one or 2 puppies - they're happy and always clean and well cared for - I became friends with the girl who works there when I asked her where they get their puppies and told her flat out - please don't tell me local breeders cause I know ALL about puppy mills - Well - to my surprise she did too and right away we hit it off - they DO buy from local breeders which is why they hardly ever have any pets for sale and the really good thing was.....SHE HAD WORKED FOR PETHELL and quit because she found out they DO buy from mills and couldn't work for a company that did this. she said she wouldn't be working where she is now if this little place bought from mills and stated for a fact that they do buy local only and the minute she hears they ever buy a puppy mill dog - she's outta there and I believed her and told her I was very impressed with how much she knew and stood by her morals. Most all pet stores buy from mills but there are a few that will NOT do business with them. I don't agree with breeders selling to pet stores but it's a reality - the only good thing I can say is every time I go there if they do have puppies or kitties - they are the happiest little things and never there but for a few days at a time. Most of the time I never see any pets there......it's a rare occasion they have them so I do go there for my pet food if they supported mills I wouldn't step foot in the place |

Of course they do - money talks. The upside is - people should call and tell the station due to their promotion of a known mill supporter and they're track record for the lack of care and miserable conditions the animals are kept in that you will no longer support the radio station. I went into Pethell one time a long time ago and will never forget how terribly sad and sick looking the puppies were. I mean REALLY sad sad faces - they were in jail with wire cages - no toys and just lost the light in their eyes. A few were very sick looking and when I started asking questions to the workers - they asked me to LEAVE which I was very happy to do - I admit I wanted everyone to hear my questions so I talked pretty loud which is unlike me - but that's why they wanted me out .....I got my point across but it was a very awful feeling and I was disgusted by the place once seeing it with my own eyes. then I walked to my car crying because those poor little faces haunted me and still do.

No repuatable caring breeder would ever put a puppy or dog in a pet store to sell. Who gives the interview and information about hte breed being sold? How are the puppies raised? How could the breeder ever do this and not know where that puppy went, will it end up abused, neglected, not cared for? Is there a home visit at the buyers? A pet store never does all this background work before selling a puppy and who takes it back if it doesn't work out? Ends up inthe pound or killed at the vets is my bet.

It's a sad fact that breeders DO sell to pet stores. The cycle will never end until people push harder and harder to change and regulate how living creatures are sold but it's all about the $. In the case of this little place - I don't like it but I do believe they care for the puppies when they have them. I've even seen one of them sitting with the puppies playing and that is NEVER a fact at Pethell or most petstores. Most of the time I'm there - the big 'open pen' where I've seen one or 2 dogs for adoption (with a fee) is empty so they don't have on ongoing thing with selling pets - but yes - I do think it's wrong for any breeder or whoever to ever sell pets to stores.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | You have brought up an important point, and that is some people think we shouldn't buy from pet stores because the puppies are mistreated in the stores or by the breeders. This is very true, but another reason we shouldn't support pet stores is that no reputable breeder would sell to them and while they may be a small hobby breeder they aren't reputable if the sell to pet stores. Proper home placement if very important to reputable breeders, and they do their best to insure that a puppy is place in his forever home, and clients know how to care and train their new family member. It's really important if we love the Yorkshire terrier breed, that we support only those breeders who are breeding for the right reasons and that's to improve the breed. These are the types of breeders who do health testing and know their lines, and you are much more likely to get a healthy puppy from a breeder like this. We had a local pet store sponsor a pet contest on the radio, and it sounded like a great idea, until I learned that they sold pets "from local quality breeders." Call the radio station and let them know about it, and picketing the pet stores seem to work too. I love it when pet stores have rescue dogs and cats for adoption, and really support this idea, as long as they are working with a reputable rescue that carefully places pets.

AGREED !! That pretty much sums up why I posted what I posted. I could never step foot in a place that didn't prove to me that the welfare of the tiny amount of dogs they offer is not financially motivated. Even the owner and I have spoken and unless I suck at judging people - I have to say I do believe them only because the amount of dogs in the 2 years I've been going there is under 10 total that I've seen with my own eyes - healthy -- happy and they have a fantastic setup where they have about 60 square feet of play area - (an expen that has always been totally clean with toys) the few times Ive seen a few puppies they are always wrestling and look pretty content.....but as I said....normally they have NONE in there at all.
