Proper home placement if very important to reputable breeders, and they do their best to insure that a puppy is place in his forever home, and clients know how to care and train their new family member. It's really important if we love the Yorkshire terrier breed, that we support only those breeders who are breeding for the right reasons and that's to improve the breed. These are the types of breeders who do health testing and know their lines, and you are much more likely to get a healthy puppy from a breeder like this. We had a local pet store sponsor a pet contest on the radio, and it sounded like a great idea, until I learned that they sold pets "from local quality breeders." Call the radio station and let them know about it, and picketing the pet stores seem to work too.

I love it when pet stores have rescue dogs and cats for adoption, and really support this idea, as long as they are working with a reputable rescue that carefully places pets.

AGREED !! That pretty much sums up why I posted what I posted. I could never step foot in a place that didn't prove to me that the welfare of the tiny amount of dogs they offer is not financially motivated. Even the owner and I have spoken and unless I suck at judging people - I have to say I do believe them only because the amount of dogs in the 2 years I've been going there is under 10 total that I've seen with my own eyes - healthy -- happy and they have a fantastic setup where they have about 60 square feet of play area - (an expen that has always been totally clean with toys) the few times Ive seen a few puppies they are always wrestling and look pretty content.....but as I said....normally they have NONE in there at all.
