| Am I doing something wrong? Okay, I'm new to this site. I think I found it in May right after I adopted a 10 week old, 8 oz, little girl who unfortunately came with high counts of parasites and ringworm. I did post and ask questions and got a lot of good advice. Thanks to everyone for that. ....But now, I'm posting and replying to my experiences with some other peoples questions (crate training and size for example) and am being shot down. It's make me feel like a heel and not want to come to this site anymore. I love this site for information, but whenever I post my experience, I just keep getting shot down. Am I doing something wrong? |

| I just quickly looked over some of your posts and honestly don't see where you were "shot down". I did not look at all of them...but the first ones did not even have responses. You must remember that people on an online forum are all different just as in real life, and will have different points of view. Just because someone may not agree with you, does not mean they are shooting you down. They have a different opinion is all. Best to just give your advice and not expect everyone to agree. I don't see where you are doing anything wrong at all.

| If I failed to welcome you to YT let me do that now . Everyone does have their own opinion here and I find what works for some yorkies and their owners may not work for others so your experiences and opinions are as important and welcomed as anyone elses here. I hope you'll stay because you will add your own valuable input that may help someone else.

| I have to agree with LJ. I also went back and just browsed through a couple of the threads you have, and I honestly just saw some good responses to what you were going through with your little one and the breeder you got her from. You're posts were very good and from what I read you were going through so much with the ringworm and other issues. Stick around, you will learn so much and all in all everyone is very helpfull. There will always be the occasional post that just rubs you wrong or might be misunderstood. But I can see nothing you are doing wrong. Not everyone will agree 100% of the time but I can tell from what you have posted that you love your babies and you are trying to get them all better. Hang in there and please stay.

I agree..... This is a great site for loads of information and to share experiences. I have at times PM'd members to ask questions instead of putting everything in the open forums. There are a lot of experienced breeders and long time yorkie parents that are a great resource - so don't let any bad experience or "brush off" deter you. You are welcome here!!! I believe each of us here always want what is best for our furkids and having community is priceless. | |

| Baby Yorkie, as you wrote in your thoughtful post on the "Wits End" thread, every dog is different. Different things work for different pups and their people. I have also found that after a year here, my thoughts and opinions have changed and grown on various topics. Keep in mind that a lot of YT members have years of experience raising many Yorkies, and they have been sharing info here for a long time. As a relatively new Yorkie mommy, I am so thankful for them! If someone disagrees with you, they aren't shooting you down. Stick around, and don't take anything too personally. |

| I always think that you don't have to be the most informed person on the internet to contribute, you just have to share your own experiences. Some people might disagree with something you have done, but that's ok as long as they do it in a respectful way. You never know, but somebody is going to take an element of what you have said and it might really be helpful to them. So keep posting and know that you are a valued member of YT! It takes many points of view to keep us all challenged and learning new things!

| So sorry to read about all the troubles you are having with your babies. I didn't think that any of your posts where out of line or that anyone was downing what you said. One thing to remember, as others have said, this is a public forum and with that you have tons and tons of people with different feelings and ways of expressing these feelings. It is very difficult to convey the exact feelings that you want so please remember that. Something that may mean a whole to you may not mean a thing to someone else and vice versa. Hope you stick around, the valuable information that is on here way outweighs any negativity. At least in my opinion.

| Please don't be discouraged. I often post my experience or ideas and it may not be the same as others but I do like to offer suggestions or ideas to someone who asks. You never know when 'your' suggestion may be the one that changes a Yorkie owners experience from a bad one to a great one. Just remember as others have said, not everyone agrees on everything. I love hearing input from people with different views. Different viewpoints give me different options to choose from. Please know: You are a valuable member of YT!

| There is lots of great advice on here. Sounds like you are having quite a time. I am so sorry. I have been right where you are but all I can say is don't get discouraged. Eventually someone will give you the right answers. PM me and maybe I can point you in the right direction.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | One of the problems with an online forum is that you can't tell the tone in which something was meant. It's easy to take umbrage and think that something was meant to be insulting, when if the very same thing was said in person it wouldn't come across that way at all. It's especially easy to take things wrong if you are feeling unsure of yourself and your capabilities. There is a saying online "put your big girl panties on". It means that you shouldn't take things too personally. If you ask a question here, you'll get 10 answers and all 10 will be different and be worded in 10 different ways. Take the advice offered from some experienced people, meld it with your common sense and things should be just fine. ETA: 8 oz? That would have scared the bejeebers out of me! I'm confident with my teeny tiny babies at work, but I don't think I would have been comfortable taking care of such a small girl on my own. I'm sure you got some excellent advice here from people who have done it. More and more I'm happy for my porkie yorkie Last edited by Rhetts_mama; 06-03-2010 at 03:34 PM. |
