One of the problems with an online forum is that you can't tell the tone in which something was meant. It's easy to take umbrage and think that something was meant to be insulting, when if the very same thing was said in person it wouldn't come across that way at all. It's especially easy to take things wrong if you are feeling unsure of yourself and your capabilities.
There is a saying online "put your big girl panties on". It means that you shouldn't take things too personally. If you ask a question here, you'll get 10 answers and all 10 will be different and be worded in 10 different ways. Take the advice offered from some experienced people, meld it with your common sense and things should be just fine.
ETA: 8 oz? That would have scared the bejeebers out of me! I'm confident with my teeny tiny babies at work, but I don't think I would have been comfortable taking care of such a small girl on my own. I'm sure you got some excellent advice here from people who have done it. More and more I'm happy for my porkie yorkie
