Donating YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() I am so mad I could spit!! ![]() Jazzy was in her crate for 10 minutes this morning, she jumped up and somehow got her tiny paw caught in the wire!!! She was screaming bloody murder. She was hanging!!! Anyway, I took the weight off of her and was holding her trying to get her paw out, what took seconds to get her loose seemed like minutes!! My poor baby. She went right off to running but she was favoring it. I called the vet and he said she will be sore but as long as she is walking and putting weight on it not to be alarmed. She is already better and not favoring it like she was earlier. I think she will be fine. OH...and for those who dont believe in crates...This girl jumps 3 foot dog gates, x pens etc. The other day she jumped up on the bathroom counter. DO NOT ASK me how she managed that one. Now, I keep the bath room door closed. She jumped from the back of the couch onto the kitchen bar!!! So, a crate is something she must have. However, these wire crates are going to the DUMP! I am getting her a pink travel crate. I feel so guilty, but this was a total freak accident!!! I just cant believe it. ![]() |

| ![]() Oh no! I am so sorry! I would surely let the crate manufacturer know! That's crazy. Don't blame yourself. You were trying to keep her safe. ![]()

| ![]() Oh...poor baby and I'm sure her screaming scared you to death too! So, glad she is ok now. I hope she doesn't take a dislike to her confinement now though. With your little jumping bean, I can see why you would need a crate, lol. I'm so lucky, Zhoie has never been a jumper nor does she go under anything. She's a wussie, but I guess that's good too.

She is fearless, and it scares me to death. I worry about leaving her out in the house alone, and now I have to be worried about her crate. Ugh. Really makes me nervous. I got an instant headache this morning! ![]() | |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Awww....poor Jazzy and you...thank God you were home though! And, glad to know she is going to be okay! I know exactly what you went through, it's scary even if it is just for a few seconds and it does seem like an eternity while it's going on. One of my foster girls jumped up on the side of the ex-pen one day and got her paw stuck, where the sides of the ex-pen come together and are clipped. She yowled in pain, I couldn't get to her fast enough, had to pick her up, hold her weight to take the pressure off, while I got her paw free....she was physically fine, but both of us were shook up for awhile. We took down the ex-pen and trained both the girls to not chase the cat (that's why they were penned when they first came here). But, this taught me a lesson - these containment devices do have dangers you don't normally think about.

| ![]() Awe poor Jazzy as well as you. As said before, be happy you were home, imagine what could have happened if you hadn't been home!? oh dear! I usually take Fiona's collar off when she is in the crate, just to be safe. I am a firm believer in using crates, hopefully Jazzy won't been to afraid to go back in her crate.....Don't blame yourself!

| ![]() Information about the crate (name, model or type) would be helpful for others that are using crates. I know this was traumatic for you! |

| ![]() Oh, that's awful. I can totally relate, my dog can climb any get, get around any obstacle. Years ago I gave up and she gets free range of the living room when I am not home. She is pretty good, she will use a pee pad. Only problem is a few times I have come home to her sleeping on the top of the sofa ![]()

| ![]() Another option to a crate is the soft sided ex-pen with cover: ![]() If you already have an ex-pen (sounds like you do), you might want to see if they sell a cover for it. Just trying to give you more options. So sorry poor Jazzy went through that. ![]()

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() I agree! It is the Lifestages. I cant remember if I got it at Petsmart or Petco, they are both a mile from my house. Pretty sure it was Petsmart. I will go see if they carry this brand and then talk to the manager as well. I always look at reviews when I buy ANYTHING. This brand has positive reviews. Anyway, this is it. Ours is the 24inch length. |
